The Door

Good locals pub ! Decent beers & a good atmosphere with lots of locals going in. The front door catch doesn't shut. This has been like this for at least 10 years !!!! So if you sit anywhere near the door you are in charge of shutting the door ALL the time or trying to keep it shut, or asking... read more

We called in for a drink whilst staying locally as so few of the local pubs open all day. Was heaving for a Thursday at 4pm but then to fill the pub took 22 people (sad I know we counted them) and as said before by others we weren't exactly welcomed with a smile but then we weren't made to... Recently visited for a lunch. Friendly welcome and excellent choice of Ales. Lunch menu was ok but a little expensive for what we had and make sure you sit away from the door, brrrrr!

Great pub and good value for food definitely on Thursday for 2 meals for £10 ! There was an issue with one battered fish but after being told it was exchanged for a new one without any problems with a friendly face.

Visited one lunch while passing through. Great pub with atmosphere one would expect from an old ale house. The food was very good and quick to arrive. The only negative was the less than friendly bar assistant who couldn't have been less interested if she tried, only giving basic answers to questions about the food.

This is the most "pub-like" pub we visited in Much Wenlock; good buzzy atmosphere, very good food and very reasonable at under a tenner a head. We booked our table in advance and would recommend you do likewise since it was very popular on the Saturday night.

This was one of the pubs we popped into on our little pub crawl of the main street. Lovely traditional place, friendly staff and got chatting to the locals who were lovely !

On a day visit to Much Wenlock, we looked around for a place to have lunch and decided on the George and Dragon. What a good choice this turned out to be! The bar retains many features, the remains of the gas lighting on the ceiling, two fir places, one of which is a beautifully tiled Victorian Iron type. It... More

Others have raved about the ales and the character and the people, but for us it is the Shropshire Fidget pie. I keep going back with friends who have all enjoyed it. The resturant at the back is a good place if you want to be peaceful rather than the friendly pub atmosphere at the front. Pity the kitchen was... More
