Lunch at the George and Dragon

We checked in to the Fox Inn around mid day 12th May, and we're told that their resaurant is open for evening meals only. The young lady at check in recommended the George, so we tried it and were very impressed with the quality and quantity of the food.

The G & D is Tardis-like as its main entrance opens into a quite small Public Bar. However, by taking a few steps alomg the corridor leading off behind the bar, much more comfy seating is revealed which accommodated easily a party of seven of us at the Wenlock Poetry Festival at the end of April. The drink and pleasantness... More

I read the reviews on TripAdvisor and decided to try it out. The beer was great - a choice of 4 hand pumps with two regular and two guest ales. The food was excellent. I had the locally sourced Shropshire Fidget Pie and my friend chose from the wide choice of vegetarian options. The pastry on the open pie was... More

I had a dream last night that the George and Dragon had been pulled down and a modern building had replaced it. It was such a shock that I had to log on to trip advisior and make sure this was just a bad dream The 'George' was my family home when i was a young boy and filled with... More

What a delightful pub! Great beer, simply gorgeous and unpretentious food. Wonderful value for money. Homely and 'local' feel to the place and a friendly welcome. My husbands pint of Proper Job and his piping hot Fidget Pie put such a smile on his face!!!! This is good, honest, tasty and plentiful food and drink and what a joy! I... More

Just called in here for a drink as staying in the village. Such a gorgeous day so sat out in the 'back passage' in the sunshine. Good beer, friendly people in such an old inn. Cheers !

Food excellent. Staff excellent. Clean, friendly place.Had Sunday Lunch there yesterday and couldn't fault a single thing. Not a big place, but, the staff are so friendly, which is why you should go into smaller "Locals" rather than bigger "Chain" places. A smile and a chat will make you go back.

This pub was packed full of locals, regulars and dog walkers. The food looked lovely & well priced. I spent most of my time in here looking at all the jugs, tankards and old posters on the walls, the fire places are also beautifully tiled, a real old fashioned drinking den.
