Description: Nestled in the Shropshire countryside is a half timbered building, the picture of relaxed country living. Luckily for us The Waterdine, just outside of Knighton, is a restaurant and B&B, open to world weary diners who want to experience good food without pretentious surroundings and obsequious service. Rustically charming and comfortably homely, The Waterdine restaurant feels welcoming and restful thanks to burgundy painted walls, knobbly old beams and feature wood burning stoves, not to mention staff who’ll make you feel like one o the family. With an experienced chef in the kitchen the menu, based on local and organic produce as far as is possible, is a modern take on traditional British dining.

If your looking for excellent food, pleasant surroundings and really nice people, then this is the place for you. We have had some meals here over the years but this is the first time we have stayed the night. It is out of the way but definitely worth finding. Ken Adams is one of the best chefs we have come across.... More

As Ludlow locals we can say this is in our top 3 restaurants in the area and we are happy to drive the half an hour to get there. The service by Isobel is friendly and welcoming and the food by Ken outstanding; imaginative, clever taste combinations and different every time we go. Sweet little Welsh cottage, unspoilt, with a... Our third visit and just as good as our previous visits. The dinners are delicious and its good to know much is home/locally grown. Excellent bread and its worth staying the night for the Breakfast the next morning.

We were very impressed by the reasonably priced three course Sunday lunch menu but then the quality of the food surpassed expectations. The food was delicious and it was great to eat all local and seasonal produce. They offered the traditional options as well as courses with deer, pigeon and mackerel etc. The setting was also stunning. However they have... More

This is a truly characterful restaurant on the Shropshire / Welsh border in amazing hiking country. The building is very old and quirky, the welcome and food amazing and to top it all we were sitting in a conservatory overlooking snow capped hills watching birds including hawks and red kites glide by. Fresh fish including a John Dory starter and... More

The first time we came to the restaurant, the food was fabulous. This time it was very dissapointing. The service was very good but the food was of poor quality and overpriced, We now know why there were not may diners. It would seem that the chef can be temprimental and this is reflected in his food. What a shame... More

The cooking at The Waterdine is nearly always exceptional , I have enjoyed many very good meals carefully prepared and cooked by the Chef Proprietor. I first tasted his food when he was based in Ludlow several years ago and knew then that this was well above average cooking. Not the easiest place to find or get to but well... More

We were the only visitors for a mid-week lunch as we had booked for a party of 10. Ken had prepared a special 3 course menu for us. We did arrive a little early, as it was wet, but they coped well with our early appearance. The food, as always was very good - we were given a choice for... More

One of an increasing number of fine eateries in the Welsh/English Marches around the Ludlow/Leominster area with local beer and locally sourced food. Very enjoyable

Quality local produce and good value can be a hard thing to find these days. The Waterdine proves this as, even now after returning home, I am not quite sure how it is I got there, and where exactly it is! However, upon finding the delightful building, it was lovely to see a stall next door selling jams, chutneys and... More
