My wife and I called in for a late lunch today at this great pub. a traditional pub with a great selection of local beers (Arkells Craft Lager is great) We are all a little sceptical about what you get for the price on the menu but I figured for just under a tenner I would try the New York... More

Having used this pub over the years boating through Eynsham we looked forward to its usual good food and beer. How wrong we were..the pub has new management and the food was average. They did have a nice selection of beers on tap however, which helped. I do not know how long the present staff have had the pub but... More

We've always enjoyed eating and drinking at The Talbot, run by the lovely Trevor, and were disappointed (and more than a little worried for the future of the pub) when he moved on. There was no need. We fancied a steak, rang to check the menu and to book a table, and turned up on Monday evening. The beer we... More

Popped in for a friendly pint, staff were chatty as were the locals. Nice local beers on tap and out of cooled barrels.

Not as good as it was. Needs the rooms to be re-furbished and the menu to be improved if it is to be good value at the new, higher prices.

Not visited this pub before and unfortunatly after this visit may not do so again. On entering the bar we asked if we could eat. We were aksed if we would like to sit in the bar or dining area. We chose the dining area. Our order was taken swiflty but on leaving our table the girl decided to chat... More

We've eaten here twice before and it's been good. No excuse for today though. Firstly can I say the herb mash was excellent. Then downhill. I had the belly pork which was, well the only description is cooked to chewy or burnt. My partner had lasagne, which was burnt to chewy. They are over priced for lunch and this was... More

We called in here for lunch on a holiday trip. The pub atmosphere was pleasant. The tables were mainly for larger groups so we felt a bit awkward about picking the nicest table, seating six, when we were just two and we picked another which was a bit noisy as it was very close to the (open) kitchen door. I... More

Called in at the Talbot looking for Sunday lunch during a day out with friends on the Thames. First impression is an honest local pub that isn't trying to be “gastro” - Very friendly welcome from bar girls and a prompt, delicious, generous and sensibly priced Sunday roast. Even more generous was the cheese and biscuits I ordered for dessert... More

Have stayed here numerous times visiting friends & never been disappointed! Food is typical pub grub served by landlord Trevor & his staff. For the real ale drinker there is a good collection of local brews. Sitting a short walk from the pretty village of Eynsham, not far from the early stages of the river Thames and a quick drive...
