Needs a lot of work but new ownership hopefully will help.

We went in on the first day that a new owner had taken over. We didn't know this and I wish we had! To be honest we've not been impressed on our last two visits but because we were pushed for time and I have nostalgic memories of this place, I thought we'd risk it. It was 9.30am and not... read more

Visited for lunch on a Saturday. They were busy but by no means full. We and other customers (that we could overhear) were told that drinks we'd ordered were unavailable. Cutlery and glasses could not be found. Service was slow and inept. Despite repeated assurances that our order was on it's way it didn't arrive and after 20 minutes we... More

The soup was cold and thick. The toast was not really toast. The staff just didn't seem to care. Had to clear our own table. It seems to have gone down hill over the past 2 years big time. Wouldn't recommend or go there again

Went into the nearly empty Coffee House for lunch. After waiting a considerable time to be served, we eventually grabbed a member of staff and placed our order. The drinks came. Ten minutes later, after we'd started the drinks, we were informed that the food was going to take at least 20 minutes due to 'a big order.' Remember, the... More

Had to wait ages to be served and it wasn't busy. They don't seem to do the scone anymore which used to be lovely. The place could really do with a major refurbishment, gone are all the horrible tapestries which cluttered the place but it does feel like you are in a prefab building which was built after the war.... Popped in for a light snack and a cup of tea, mid afternoon on a Friday. Noticed a blackboard offering Cream Tea or Savoury Tea consisting of a cheese scone with Apple chutney. Asked the waiter for two Savoury Tea's. He looked confused, so I pointed to the blackboard. He discussed the request with his colleagues behind the counter and... More

For those of us that remember, this interesting Cafe appears to be from a bygone era. It reminds me of my local eating place during the 1960's - the decor fits the era well. Food is generally good - cooking can be a bit spasmodic on rare occasions (overcooked eggs and burnt toast) but usually fine. Generous portions and generally... More

Well my excuse is we were hungry but we should have gone elsewhere! This place is chaotic and the food is well, average at best, service is slow, not because they don't want to help but they don't seem able to focus on any one thing at a time. Staff need training, the front of house needs a bit of tarting... More

I should have known when I walked through the door with my 8yr old daughter, the place was deserted ... The young staff member was attentive enough, although somewhat distracted by visiting friends. An older more senior member of staff came to the front of the shop in order to give the waitress a dressing down, littered with expletives not... More
