I had heard great things about this restaurant and was keen to give it a go. I went with my girlfriend on a Friday evening. We had booked but it was actually not too busy and we would probably have been able to get a table regardless. I was disappointed by the selection of beers on tap. Only two were... More

Fascinated to see that according to Tripadvior map this place is in a field between Wolvercote and Wytham. Is someone messing TA about and they never notice? They never do anyway. That's why for a long time TA said a kebab van was the highest rating in Oxford.

The place is an older country establishment, in a small village, in the vale of the white Horse. Outdoor seating is small, and seeming more compact, than other establishments closer to the White Horse. I had the scallops, which were OK, but at Oxford prices - which myself and a friend found under seasoned. I then had the lamb shank... More

To my knowledge, the Woodmans has had a good reputation for as long as I can remember. We booked a table at 14.00 last Sunday. The eating area was virtually empty, with our table with a reserved sign on it. The menu was limited so 2 of us ordered the Pork. When the food arrived, the pork was swimming in... More

A friend said she used to visit The Woodman regularly and loved it, so my girlfriend and I went off to lunch. The building was beautiful and we had a nice welcome by the lady serving. It was a weekday lunch (Thursday) and i know its a in a small village but the place was virtually empty, which maybe should... More

I live quite close to this lovely pub and every time I visit I always go on about how lovely the food is after I've been. The fish pie is my personal favourite or the chicken. The white wine is also gorgeous! This is a proper old fashioned country pub with TONS of character. There is plenty of room to... More

We tried the Woodman, but because we hadn't booked, we decided not to wait and book for the following evening. The staff were very attentive and the menu was very varied. We had the duck which was cooked to perfection

After eating here on a number of occasions we dined here again, only to find the landlord and regulars involved in what can only be loud and offensively worded bosterous activity, still needs must and we like the food.....After an eternity waiting for a starter and unhappy with the activity going on we announced we were leaving as others felt...
