Good pub grub

Ok so this is not the most glamorous of pubs and it's certainly not a gastropub but it definitely has lots to offer. If you just fancy a big simple pub dinner, this is the place to go. Loads on the menu, and all tastes homemade. I also like that they offer sone of their mains as a smaller... read more

Not sure where all the good reviews are coming from. Large portions and that's about it. Low quality ingredients, over cooked veg and very very pricey dishes. Needs a make over, furniture falling apart! Service was OK but not attentive, much better places to eat in the locality.

I can't believe this has such good reviews; yes the portions were big - too big and the food was really not very nice, it had a strange 'stale' taste, I'm guessing it was prepared well in advance and microwaved when needed. I left most of my meal which is something I don't normally do. Very disappointed particularly as it... More

On our way home fron Birmingham, we wanted to find somewhere that wasn't a Toby Spoons or Harvester. A quick google led us here.. So glad to say we would drop in again when passing by.. not too far from the A34 so easy access. Service was quick, polite and with a smile. Food was served quickly, hot and extremely... More

We were a party of four & have visited this pub in Abingdon several times before. Today we were, again, not disappointed as the food was delicious! I had the Old Favourite Chicken New Yorker which was chicken breast topped with BBQ sauce, bacon & cheese, with perfect roasted vegetables & chips. My three companions thoroughly enjoyed their main courses... More

It was a lovely place to eat with excellent service. They were able to seat me no problems, but it is advised that you book if you know you are going along. Their specialty seems to be exotic meats such as kangaroo, lama and zebra which you cook yourself on a hot volcanic rock. These are great fun but remember... More

We did not eat although the menu sounded very interesting but liked the atmosphere. A little walk out of town but worth a visit.

Still a nice pub, friendly with good atmosphere , food good but not consistently good.....However bit too pricey on drinks at the bar and last visit I got different prices for three different rounds of same two drinks ? Still needs a lick of brighter paint inside .... Alright tho and better than the average in Abingdon........

Never been here before. Food was amazing. The only fault was the portions are so big you will struggle to get through it. All homecooked and tasted lovely. So much to choose from so will definitely return a few times to try other dishes.
