We were welcomed and seated instantly in a lovely quiet spot near the back which was perfect for us as we wanted a romantic dinner as a couple without being around lots of noise. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals, we had the duck breast and butternut squash risotto, both were cooked to perfection! Meals took a while to arrive but they... More

This place has become our regular eatery whenever we are in the area and we have had dinner here several times over the past few weeks. The service is always friendly and the food is always excellent. We've sampled lots off the extensive menu - the burgers, steaks, salads, pasta, vegetarian dishes etc etc are always well presented and tasty.... More

Great food and plenty of choice. Indoor decoration very effective. Special deals early evening. Need to book at peak times. Staff very attentive. Not cheap but the quality and presentation of the food out weigh this

I think what made the food exceptional were the quality of ingredients. I've been twice in a week with different groups and everyone has loved the quality of the individual elements to the dishes. Our choices were nothing flashy, just simple staples like smoked salmon bread rolls with chips and blue cheese pate with crostini. The chips were probably the... More

Great for a drink. Dog was allowed in the bar which i think is a must for a country pub. Food was disappointing however. I had scallops and then fish of the day. Scallops were fine but i felt just 3 scallops for £11 was too few. Fish of the day was salmon. It was very dry as was the... More

We visited in July between 4 and 6 - hence the title of the review. We were also given an a-la-carte menu to choose from. I and my partner chose starters from a-la-carte - feta potato with celeriac slaw and balsamic glaze - delish!! Beef and Stilton Pie for Tony, Teriyaki Chicken (from 4 - 6 menu) for me. Very... More

A party of 8 of us (3 children) called for an impromptu lunch on 27 July. The place was busy and we were offered the chance of a table at their sister pub Rose Cottage. We decided to stay put and sit in the garden while the children played on the bouncy castle. We were given an estimated wait time... More
