Travelling from Newcastle we popped in to Morpeth for breakfast and were lucky enough to find the Chantry just up from the short stay car park - which needs a disc £1. Some were in for tea/coffee and scone, others - like ourselves - were in for breakfast. I had scrambled eggs on toast which was perfectly fine and the... More

So easy to get the simple things wrong, but this place gets it right. Great cup of tea with a beautiful scone, the only thing that let it down was it took them too long to clear the dishes of the tables around us. Not a massive gripe, but attention to detail is everything.

Called for lunch today, lovely fresh food, the sticky toffee pudding was to die for. Staff pleasant and helpful, it was busy all tables taken but new arrivals were happy to wait, that says it all really.

This is a really nice tea room and restaurant in a lovely location close to the river at Morpeth. It serves a really good range of sandwiches, baguettes and jacket potato fillings as well as 'specials', salads and an excellent array of home baked cakes and pastries. I have been there twice and on both occasions food was fresh and... More

This is our 2nd visit to Chantry tearooms & it's still a little gem. My parents came along this time as we had a few days in Alnwick & called in Morpeth on our way home. The décor, atmosphere, cleanliness, food, staff is outstanding. All staff are friendly & you are greeted with a smile. Food is lovely, cakes/cream teas... More

It was my first time in Morpeth so i was very lucky to find this "find" for lunch. It seemed to be a cake and tea shop that did sandwiches etc. Probably wisest to stick to the specials board as these seemed freshest. Cakes and desserts were the treat; home-made and decadent. Good friendly service from staff who were working... More

While spending a weekend in the Newcastle area for a family wedding my son and I decided to visit Morpeth for a couple of hours and were delighted to come across this tea room where we enjoyed a late brunch of scrambled eggs on toast with different additions as well as a generous pot of tea with their home made... Stopped off for a quick look around Morpeth on our way home from our hols and spotted this lovely little tea room, so glad we did. It's a traditional English tea room, the décor is very quaint. The staff are very pleasant. We had lunch here .... chose a variety of meals, quiche, corned beef pie, cheese on toast, all... More
