Morpeth has no shortage of cafes and eateries, but Cafe des Amis is by far the best. The decor is attractive and welcoming. There's no inane pop music blaring out. They serve Illy coffee, a well known and excellent Italian blend. There are delicious homemade scones and cakes on offer, as well as tasty soups, bacon rolls, a range of... More

We thoroughly enjoyed a cheese scone and a hot drink at this lovely café recently. The ambience is friendly and warm, and the service really efficient. The array of homenade cakes was superb too, we wished we had felt hungrier!

We've lived in Northumberland for over 4 years but have only ever passed through Morpeth before, until today. We decided to spend the morning having a look around and found this small-looking tea room. At least it looks small from the outside, but goes back a long way into a conservatory. Despite it being comfortably busy with lots of local... More

Visit every time I go home. All food is freshly prepared and the staff are very friendly. Various cakes (which are homemade) and sandwiches and light snacks for you to try, bacon sarnies are lovely as to are the tea cakes. This little café is well worth a visit.

From the outside Cafe des Amis looks very ordinary, but the extended rear patio area, which is now heated and undercover gives an excellent all year outdoor experience. The service is always excellent and Wendy and her staff are efficient and friendly. The menu is limited as you might expect for a small cafe, but the scones, cakes and the... More

Found this place by chance on my way back to the bus station. I had the cafe sandwich which was very nice and then a piece of lemon drizzle cake. Lovely place, friendly staff and cakes to die for!!! I will certainly return to sample more cake on my next visit to morpeth.

I visited today with my hubby and 1 year old. After looking at the menu and the cake selection we decided that the cakes looked too iresistable. I had chocolate fudge and hubby had salted caramel. They were absolutely gorgeous and came with pouring cream which made it even more of a treat. The other food looked great too. A... More

Very quaint and busy café. Good coffees. Cinnamon and apple cake a little dry and a little dark on the edges. Good friendly service. Could do better.
