Enjoyed "The Widdy"

Passed this pub so many times on our way to Amble so decided to pop in for lunch. We arrived spot on 12 noon and it was starting to fill up (this was a Friday lunchtime). Very welcoming, good selection of pub grub and not too badly priced. Although not too impressed with the puddings. Hubbie... read more

Lovely food, good service, had Sunday roast small plate (same size as childrens) meat (beef, pork, chicken or lamb ) boiled pots, roast pots, turnip, carrots, peas, cauliflower, Yorkshire pud & gravy also extra gravy requested - not a problem. Best to book however eventhough it was busy we only waited 5 mins for a table.

We visited here yesterday evening (01.08.15) having booked a head we had no problem with our table. They shut at 3pm and reopen at 5pm, a lot of people walking in off speck however they were fully booked until 8pm. The menu is lovely with a choice of small or regular portions. The small would've done me no bother. Kids... More

This is a pub just north of Ashington on the coastal route to Amble and points north. Having travelled past this pub for 50+ years we recently visited it. Just shows what you can miss over the years! Here is a friendly pub producing plenty of good wholesome food at very sensible prices. Portion sizes are (unless your a real... More

Every time we've driven past, we've always promised ourselves we'll pop in sometime. Well, today was the day, and I'm glad we did. From friendly staff, efficient service, and delicious cooked to order food and real ales, there's nothing negative to say about the place. Although think twice before you order a Large portion of anything from the menu. It... More

We attended Saturday evening which was very busy, the service was very efficient and the food itself was very good but we thought quite expensive. The bill was over fifty pounds for one starter, two mains, bottle of wine and one pint of larger. Over five pounds for king prawns starter which included 4 prawns in Piri Piri sauce and... More

We went to this pub twice over one weekend because we were very impressed the first time. The staff were very polite, service was quick and the food was lovely, the small portions are still huge though. Next time I go to Druridge Bay I will definitely go back.

We had four superb meals at this lovely inn. The staff were friendly and very professional. The food was delicious and plentiful and you could change the order to suit your taste.

We called here on speck and were fortunate enough to get a table last Saturday evening (I recommend that you book though as they are very busy). Home made meals very tasty, good size portions (we had small and it was still too much!) service was very good - you do have to get your drinks from the bar though
