Great hospitality, nice pub, excellent food and staff

Bank holiday lunch here and it was lovely. We were in the lounge area and our lunch was piping hot and we all enjoyed our meal. The service was good and the meal value for money. When the bill came instead of the usual mint imperial there was a paper bag with a mix up in i.e. jelly babies haribos... More

Kris and the team have done a brilliant job since taking over here. We are regular diners and patron of their Running Fox establishment, too. Just wanted to say that the menu is fabulous - have virtually been through the lot, including Sunday's. If you love pies, try Nev's special! There's a good wine list. The decor is delightful and... Menu looked good and I enjoyed a fillet steak, but the baked Camembert starter was not as soft as I'd expected. Pleased to be able to order Proscecco by the glass, but glasses of regular wine were offered only as a 175cc size (not 250cc). Service and atmosphere were good, with live music (although not to my taste...). As a... More

Thank you for your feedback; do wish you'd mentioned your starter to your server so we could have rectified the dish there and then. Re Amex - we will perhaps look into this again. Kind regards Vanessa F Guest Relations More

Stayed one night in this little gem. Beautiful room and spotless clean. Food really good and there is no way you could leave still feeling hungry as the breakfast is huge! Staff really nice. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Went for a meal on a Saturday evening and was lucky enough to get a table. We decided to experiment with the fish plate for starters and enjoyed the selection. The mains were delicious, and the puddings were lovely (wife described the lemon posset as the best dessert she'd had in months). Not a cheap night, but certainly didn't feel... More

What a beautiful setting to arrive to and then the room was lovely. Homemade biscuits with loose leaf teas and ground coffee awaiting. Huge bath, shower and room was perfect. Our entire experience was a pleasure from beginning to end. Highly recommended. Well done.

We had dinner here recently whilst staying nearby. Very nice menu with plenty of choices. We had the whitebait and a ham hock type terrine with homemade chutney for starters, the whitebait were great but the terrine was only okay with not a great deal of taste. For mains we both had the chicken breast in a cream and mushroom... More

We made the 25 mile trip here for my daughters birthday lunch after reading such good reviews. We were seated in the conservatory which is a lovely setting and well decorated. We were all very excited and quite hungry for our food ... None of us wanted starters so ordered our main courses .....nearly 1 hour later our food arrived!... More

what a wonderful welcome, the rooms are beautiful and felt very luxurious. We ate in the restaurant one night and had breakfast both days...... the food was excellent. What can I say about the service and staff? not enough room here to praise them. We had a wonderful stay.
