Thank you for the reviewing the Barn at Beal. To be honest, I found your review disappointing. You awarded us a very average 3 stars when you recently visited for a cup of tea. You have made no explanation for this and as a result I can't see how your review would be helpful to other prospective visitors. If you... More

We had a 'weekend special' dinner at this restaurant; they are only held on Friday and Saturday. There was a very good two-course deal for £11.95. Both our starters were excellent and so was my husband's main course, but I found it hard to find any fish in my fishcakes! We had no dessert, but good coffees. The staff were... More

my husband and I were heading home from Durham when we decided to goto the Holy Isle, however the causeway was already flooded over. On the way back up the road we decided to stop of for a spot of lunch at The Barn at Beal. Lovely clean well laid out restaurant with lovely staff. We both had the beal... More

We love calling in at The Barn on regular drives up and down the A1 to and from Scotland. We have only ever been for lunch or a coffee so cant comment on the evening dining. We've always received a very warm welcome and love the ambience of the dining area and the stunning view over to Holy Island. If... More

After driving around most of Northumberland looking for somewhere open, we came to the Barn at Beal. I'd been here a few years ago and remembered it to be very nice. Welcomed as soon as we came through the door, ordered Tea for 2, and cakes and scones all round came to under £10, which was very reasonable. Great atmosphere,... More

One will not find the A1 from Newcastle to Edinburgh on any culinary maps. However, the Barn at Beal is worth turning off for. It is spacious so there is plenty of room for singles, couples, families and adult groups not to get in one another's way. It is the best place we have found to date for a cup... More

Iwas a little concerned when, having arrived 30 minutes early for our Sunday lunch table and ahead of our friends I went to order coffee (it was a wild day on Holy Island and we needed warming through) I just stood for 8 minutes at the counter, ignored. A lady came to do something to the coffee machine but didn't... More

My husband and I always eat at the Barn at least once every trip to Berwick, I know some say it's expensive but we don't. Try living in the Southeast and you'll soon know what expensive is! The views are to die for, the place is always busy but the staff are always welcoming. It will always be on our... More
