Good English fare

For us over 60s, this is amazing - 3 courses for £7.50 and very good too. Soup or juice, choice of several mains and then ice cream. Hot, tasty, quickly served. The main menu is not expensive, includes pheasant and suchlike. Warm and friendly - worth a visit.

I visited this restaurant for lunch with my friend. We arrived before the rush and found a lovely pub with plenty of seats to choose from. The menu is varied and has special offers. It's very easy to order take your table number to the bar, order and by the time you get back to your seat cutlery has been... More

We called in after a day shopping for a quick bite to eat before going on to the near by cinema. The pub is handy for food or drinks if your having a night at cinema as it is just over the car park. There is a good selection of food to choose from anywhere from salads to steaks and... More

We booked in advance (it was faily full with locals - always a good sign). We had the carvery, which was excellent value and a good standard. Very attentive service. A bit lacking on atmosphere, but hard to find fault for a good value evening meal.

First time visit and was impressed with the range of food on offer, there was actually a gluten free lemon meringue pie which was great instead of the usual choice of ice cream! The cutlery wasn't too clean, but asked and got replacements would definitely go back and try more things on the menu and the portion sizes were large!

Food of a poor standard. Lasagne more like shredded potato and very bland. Vegetable Lasagne just sheets of pasta and little else. Also tasteless. Liver very strong and leathery and also very salty. Once served staff never came near again and we had to go to the bar each time more drinks were required.

Had the carvery. Available everyday but advise to go for start at 5.30 as that is when it is most fresh
