A gem

We were on our way to another place to eat when we spotted the Black Swan and gave it a go. We had the hot roast pork sandwich, and a couple of assorted burgers. All the food came out well cooked and delicious. It was very quiet when we first came in which we thought was a shame, but the... read more

Good wholesome pub grub freshly cooked, staff very friendly, don't be put off from the outside. Stayed here for 4 days and the disappointing part was the house keeping, I would expect the room to be checked daily and the coffee cups changed daily. Stayed in room 1 with the humongous spa bath. Car parking is a pain - there... More

After a casual walk around Alnwick on a Saturdays morning my wife reckoned that it was approaching lunch time. There are many modern & a few quirky cafes to choose from but I am not a great cafe lover and prefer to eat something a little more than a cake or sandwich. No disrespect to Cafe owners. After examining some... More

Visited bank holiday Monday with friends for an informal get together. At least ten adults and six kids. We all sat comfortably together in the atmospheric front area of the pub. We received quick, friendly and efficient service from both Tracey and Iona, nothing was too much trouble. The fries were "amazing" plenty of them, hot and crispy and for... More

We bought a Groupon offer for Sunday lunch and went today. The reason we like using Groupon is because you can visit different places at a reasonable cost and if you are impressed you go back and pay the full price. When we entered the food smelt fab. We went to the bar and ordered our drinks and was shown... More

The Black Swan is a typical town pub, with welcoming atmosphere, friendly service and good basic pub food. Being vegetarian I didn't have huge choice but this is the case in most pubs of the region. The vegetarian burger was tasty and reasonable value for money. The place is well located in the centre of town on Narrowgate, a street... More

Very poor pub food - even when you are expecting just average. We ordered 2 sandwiches; a Caribbean chicken burger with mango. The chicken may have traveled in the same truck as a mango in the past - but never any closer. And a chicken/chorizo sandwich - same thing, I found one tiny piece of chorizo. Both were served dead... Spent a rainy afternoon in the Black Swan, a really nice pub in the town .Service from the young man behind bar was excellent and so too was the house Spanish red wine. Food was plentiful and really lovely Great value and great service.

Visited the Black Swan today for a Sunday lunch with a group on deal. Meal was good staff very helpful. Place was very busy but didn't take long for the meal to arrive. I would definitely go back.
