Brilliant drinks

Loved the variation of drink that were on offer and was cheap compared to other places in Alnwick! I am a local person, there is always a friendly person in this pub and it also does pub food! We chose here as it was dog friendly and we were pleasantly surprised by the standard of food. We ordered lamb baguettes, ham baguette, a burger and chicken nuggets for the children. The baguettes were full of lamb and the ham one was quality thick ham and plenty of it. They came with lovely thick, homemade chips and coleslaw. Baguettes... More

Very fussy eater here. We all had an excellent lunch at the Black Swan, very helpful and friendly bar staff, good beer, and we all enjoyed our food very much. Perfect place to call in to during a visit to this beautiful town.

Called into this historic inn for a snack, interior quaint and cosy. Apparently Rabbie Burns slept here in his days as a Revenue Collector. Good choice of snacks and evening meals with local ales on tap . We just had a tuna sandwich which was adequate with a pint of local Grainger Ale a good brew.

Food was no better than OK bog standard pub fare. Not bad but nothing to write home about either. Limited menu spotty service. Ho Hum!

my wife & I were staying in the area & visited this establishment for a evening meal. We both ordered venison steak & both were disappointed, it seemed like the pre-packed pre-sealed variety.

Seemed one of the few places open serving food on the Friday night we arrived. maybe the others had given up as this was excellent fodder presented beautifully at a reasonable price. Nice pub/restaurant and so it turned out for the best that nowhere else was offering food.

Huge burgers, reasonable price, can get a little noisy at times. Good fun quiz on a Wednesday evening, all in all a good pub with decent pub grub.

We went to the Black Swan for a pint of local ale and enjoyed ourselves. We didn't have any food, so I cannot comment on the food quality. The selection of beer was good and the prices were reasonable.

We visited this pub last year and meals were really good and value for money. This year's experience was regrettably not as good. I had the steak and ale pie and ,although the meat was lean and tender, the meal was not hot. To be fair we were refunded for the meal and my companion's burger was fine. Thought that... More
