I eat here all the time and can't fault the food, staff or service! Top marks! The steak and ale pie is fantastic, and the burgers are excellent!

I went here with my mother in law yesterday. We have never been before, and just thought we'd try as the menu looked nice. Lovely warm pub inside, and great menu. I am slightly picky with food, yet here I was spoilt for choice. Plenty of vegetarian options. Hand cut chips were an inch wide! and red hot. Reasonable prices... More

Excellent service, good beer and value for money food. Hidden down a side street you could easily miss it if you didn't know it was there.

Great pub. Drank local craft beer made in Alnwick. The bartender was happy to give us small samples before we chose our drinks. My husband and I got the 2 course set price meal, which was very inexpensive. We had fried goat cheese, and curried soup. Then came dinner of fried shrimp and a whale tail of fish and chips.... More

Originally called in for a sandwich which was fine so we decided to return on a Tuesday evening. It took a while to get seated and no-one appeared to take our order. A third prompt found someone free and we ordered 2 chicken dishes off the specials board. My wife's was fine but my salad was running with oil and... More

We were waiting for one of the other pubs to open in Alnwick, but as 12 o'clock arrived, neither had opened, one not showing any signs of life, so we wondered around and went here instead. It did not look oveerly appealing from outside, but inside was very different. The furniture was new and comfortable, but the music was a little... More

3 of us went here on Friday night. We ordered nachos with cheese to start and then 2 burger and a gammon special. We ordered at 7.45 and I would like to comment on the food but by 9.00 pm it had still not arrived. HOW LONG CAN IT TAKE TO GRILL CHEESE ON SOME NACHOS??? We left feeling very... More

Just been today for food - two of us. Ordered the Gammon special and chicken mayo baguette with chips. first of all I was pleased that there's a line on the menu which advises the specials board is at the bar - lost count the number of times I've ordered then wished I'd seen the specials earlier... Anyway... The lady... More

To look at, you would not expect this level of quality. The pub is a little scruffy from the outside, inside it's perfectly fine but certainly not fancy. The food we all had was so good we ate there 3 times in one week. The falafel burger is tasty, the sausages are really good quality (I quite often don't pick... More
