Oldest pub in Alnwick, but lacking atmosphere

Popped in for a couple of drinks with friends before a meal. Outside looks disappointing and nothing like picture on trip advisor, interior sadly lacking atmosphere and doesn't reflect it being the oldest pub in Alnwick. Reasonably priced though and were served quickly enough and staff pleasant... read more

I adore the queens it's been a regular drinking and eating place of mine for many years. I love the fact that above the bar they have a sign enter as strangers leave as friends. And that says it all

My wife and I dropped in for a quick pub lunch - the barmaid was quick to take the order and deliver drinks. The food took over 45 mins to get to us and the pies content was fine, the pastry was cold and burnt, the mash luke warm. It was slow and fairly grotty.Complaining did solicit an apology but.............!... More

I asked for it to be med rare, it was well done and tasted a little strange, hubby had the gammon, said it was good. Nice pub, pleasant people and staff and nice... More

Had a few pints of beer in here. Locals made us feel very welcome. TV, Juke box, no sky tv, but beer good, average price of ale.Would return.

Nice clean pub - good beer, open fire in one side and a very nice atmosphere. Not sure about any food as we didn't eat, but easy access from the main street, parking straight outside.

A fairly limited menu but food was served fresh and piping hot. Restaurant area is not particularly attractive, furnishings dark and a bit dated and one table positioned adjacent to door direct into ladies toilet which is a bit off-putting. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. You can eat in the bar area which is at front and this might... More
