Silver Beach and Eating In

We have been regular diners at the Joiners since it opened in it's new guise a few years ago. It has always been a firm favourite, with a good menu and an additional specials board which reflected seasonal changes. The food was always top class and the service and attention to detail excellent even in high season. Now, however, the... More

We had stopped here for a lovely quiet afternoon drink earlier in the week, and returned for an evening meal on a very busy evening. We had not booked, but a table for 2 was available. Staff were very busy, and working hard. The food menu wasn't as interesting or varied as we had hoped, but our meal was adequate.... More

Arrived at 5:45 on a Saturday without booking, 75% of the tables were empty with reserved signs on them, including in the bar. In fairness we were eventually shown to a table in the bar and told we could only have it till 8pm! Really we were only after a bar meal. The little blackboards on the tables could easily... More

We've been here a few times on the recommendation of a colleague that lives locally. We've had some really nice meals and good service - it's the kids favourite place to eat in Northumberland. Sadly, this weekend's visit was disappointing. Only two of the staff smiled, the children's meals were forgotten, any requests for anything had to be asked for... More

We were rather surprised by the short menu, limited not only in size but also in range. I mean, however amusing it is to be offered "the biggest fish that could safely be landed, with real chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce", you really are simply dealing with fish and chips, aren't you? And as for "beef burger [ plus... More

3rd time we have visited over 2 weeks in Northumberland. One of the best pubs in the area. Fish and chips consistently good. Dog friendly and even offer "doggy beer" and popcorn. Always busy. Best to book. Meals not over priced, especially for quality of food. Will happily return and have recommended to friends who have also enjoyed their visit(s)

Lovely pub in a lovely setting. Rooms very nice. We stayed in the Bill Bags Cape. Staff pleasant and helpful. Food really nice. Worst night sleep in ages. At 00:30 there was a loud group of people sat in front of the pub talking and eventually saying good night to each other and "see you later". Another resident had music... More

My wife and I and dog stayed close to this pub restaurant and ate there several times. On each occasion the young staff were attentive and welcoming, the food was good and we were able to take our dog into parts of the restaurant as well. They had a good selection of local beers and good knowledge of their strenghts... More

Good service made for a relaxing meal. Clean, modern pub/hotel - short walk from yhe beach at Low Newton - more than worth the extra few minutes to by pass the very busy and a bit random Ship Inn
