Went in and took ages to take our order. Was then informed there was no bread so half the starters were unavailable. We then waited 15 minutes for them to arrive.prices are good but dont go when busy.

Caffe Tirreno is a lovely little restaurant serving really tasty food at very reasonable prices. When I visited it was rather understaffed, but those who were serving were all extremely friendly and helpful regardless.

Staying in the area, have visited here twice. On both occaisions had really good food and pleasant prompt service. The restaurant seems always busy, had to wait a few minutes for a table but well worth the wait. Pizza and pasta very reasonably priced.

We live nearby and probably eat here twice a month. The service is always good, the menu regularly reviewed and the food always hot and fresh. Also good specials board/ Last night was no exception with my excellent Cannelloni and the wife had another good pizza. OK, it's not chic or modern, but it's certainly not cheap and cheerful, just... Surprised at the negative reviews. Maybe a bit hit and miss, but I've been loads of times with friends before visiting Alnwick Playhouse or just to catch up. Food consistently tasty, well-presented and so reasonably priced. Last night I had superb creamed roast pepper soup and fantastic calzone pizza. My friend was more than happy with her plateful of smoked... More

Not impressed with the service. There was a small live bug in my salad and the waitress would not believe me, she was quite rude and just said it had been washed and it was probably pepper...there was no pepper on my food and pepper doesn't have legs!!! Was completely put off and couldn't eat my lunch so was just... More

First visit with parter. Couldn't get into the one further down the road. Very cramped, windows steamed up, felt a bit like a sauna. Could only make out the menu because of the street lamp. Only serve house wines by the glass not the more expensive ones. No jugs left for water and they had ran out of the beef... More

Whenever we go to the Playhouse in Alnwick this is our restaurant of choice every time. Not only is its proximity a bonus but its unpretentious surroundings have a certain appeal. The service is always good and the food is freshly cooked but obviously that means waiting time can be a little longer both for a table and your meal.... More

We live local so tend to come here regularly as it's always consistently very good value for money yet fresh and tasty food. You would pay twice as much in some of the leading high street Italian restaurants for pizza and pasta and it wouldn't be a patch on this place! We love it!

I was surprised when the waitress said the Parmesan cheese might dry out my mushroom risotto as I had never been warned of this before in any other Italian restaurant. I can't say which rice they used to make it, but I would have put it on par with a packet of Bachelors savoury rice. It's saving grace was the... More
