Well patronised

Always seemed full, had pasta which was very good although drinks quite expensive the meals are reasonable. Other visitors we spoke to were enthusiastic about their meals also.

This vibrant, friendly restaurant was as good as the recommendations that led us to it. The food was excellent, the staff attentive and friendly. We felt very welcome and nothing was too much trouble.

Ignore the negative reviews! Obviously diners having a bad day. Caffe Tirreno is completely authentic and everything is cooked from scratch so it's no surprise service may take a little longer than usual especially during busier periods. From lovely cups of perfectly made cappuccinos in the morning to tasty pizza during the evening, I am never left disappointed. The service... More

We tried this restaurant on a Friday evening but no tables were available on arrival. We were invited to wait and were advised it could be 20 minutes. We sat with gin and tonics, with other waiting customers, and a table was ready for us in 15 minutes. We ordered straight away and service was good, efficient and friendly. Food... More

No reservations and often full, but you are invited to take a seat and wait for an available table. We were forecast a 20-25 minute wait, along with six others in the queue. In fact, we were seated in around 15 minutes and ordered immediately. The extensive menu is varied and appealing. We were even offered small variations to suit... More

Heard great things about this place, and finally decided to give it a go. The food was ok but the service was appalling. I have never had such poor service, where beer was spilled over me without so much as an apology, we sat with empty glasses for 20 minutes, and the service so slow that the meal felt like... More

We ordered two bruschetta ( a simple, quick starter to prepare, I can produce it in 10 minutes flat) ours took 40 minutes, for main it was cannelloni stuffed with spinach and ricotta, this took 20 minutes after we had finished our starter. When our main was presented the fresh basil was wilted from time I suspect under a heat... More

Dear Sir. I do not usually reply to reviews, indeed I think it is sad to remonstrate on this site....Anyway for the avid reader, we have cctv cameras that proves and disqualifies your claim of 40 minutes for a starter and 20 minutes for the main course. We advertise that we take time to produce food on our menu especially... More

We stayed in Alnwick for 3 nights and used this restaurant each night. There were none of the 'chains' in Alnwick and we chose Caffe Tirreno on recommendation of the local Tourist office. It always seemed to be well patronised - a good sign !! - and the food we chose each night was tasty , well presented and a... More

No table bookings meant we had to wait on a very busy Monday night but it was worth it. Our meals were excellent and great value for money. The special crab ravioli was especially good. We had starters, wine and glasses of wine for all under £40. The Polish waitress was extremely helpful and nothing was a problem. The popularity... More
