We ate here twice, the first coinciding with a busy evening in Alnwick because of the food festival. We were pleased to find somewhere with a table and even more so after eating. The menu has sufficient variety without being too long. Wine list and bottled beers good. Service was good and the food tasty. We had no hesitation in... More

We visited on a quiet September evening and were immediately made welcome by the friendly, attentive staff in this scrupulously clean and tastefully decorated little restaurant. Not a huge menu (often a good sign in my opinion as what there is tends to be better cooked), but plenty of variety. I chose the Craster kippers for my main course, and... More

I called in on the spur of the moment and on seeing that they did fish and chips. Seated, order taken quickly and was given plate of crisply battered fish, garden peas and chips and a beer. The tartare sauce, made on the premises, is excellent and beats any bought in product. My only complaint is that the chips were... More

Not a restaurant we would go back too though popular as in centre of Alnwick, probably mostly tourist trade. Poor entrance, needs update, felt like you were entering through storage area! Food average could have more choices and veg would be good with some of dishes too, but staff good and well trained.

We had some delicious food here Friday evening, it would have been an excellent review if the waitress had remembered to put through the starter order too. The food was delivered quick so we were a little on the back foot when the first thing to be delivered was the main course. The waitress checked and apologised that she had... More

My wife and I returned to this restaurant a year after our first visit which we thoroughly enjoyed. I had the surf and turf (steak and prawns) with a choice of any sauce, well actually not ANY sauce but a choice of 2 sauces garlic butter or Pernod. I asked about something better for my steak (such as pepper or... More

I had the lamb rump. Pink as I like it and very flavoursome. We were pleasantly surpised as we were dissappointed to find several of the other restaurants closed on a Saturday evening in mid summer holiday period!

We ate here one of the two nights that we were staying at the Tower (separately reviewed under Hotels) and, although the meal was OK, it was certainly nothing special. The kitchen may not have been helped by the fact that everyone appeared to have booked for the same time but that is surely something that should be managed. The... More
