Disappointed

We come to Alnwick at least twice a year and have always wondered what Hardys bistro would be like. We were given an afternoon tea experience for an Xmas gift and when we looked at available locations found that the White swan ie Hardys bistro was one of them when we booked our tea we were... read more

Bland, bland, bland. We popped in to have a look at the spectacular dining room and the £10.00 lunch seemed like a good idea. Unfortunately a superannuated baked hake and even more characterless passionfruit cheesecake proved otherwise.

This is the 3rd time we have been and each time the service and food have been excellent We were told each time we would probably have to wait a while as the staff serve in the restaurant of the Hotel, too Would recommend and would visit again

We were taken to Hardys Bistro by friends so I didn't want to complain in front of them, but I had an absolutely awful meal. I ordered the caramelised onion tartin with goats cheese for a main course.... it was the size of a starter so I my friends ended up donating me potato and veg - and the dish... More

Service a bit sloppy and had a long time to wait in between courses. Was not busy when we first went in but it did get full up,instead of concentrating on each table one by one it was a bit of a free for all, maybe need to up staffing levels? Food was average, could do with being a lot warmer and... More

the food was good although the menu wasn't very extensive - the restaurant is actually better than average but not 4 stars so 3.5 is more accurate

called in for the two courses for £10 offer, we both had Haddock, Chips and peas, followed by white Chocolate cheese cake. All extremely tasty and well presented. Lovely surroundings, topped off by excellent service from very friendly staff, thank you.

as others have said pretty quiet when we visited and this meant there was no real atmosphere. The staff were friendly and given that it was so quiet took a little while for service. However the starters were good and the main courses pork tenderloin in red wine ,and baked cod in a white wine veloute were both excellent .The food brought... Sunday lunch. Four diners. £18.95 for three courses and a complimentary glass of bubbly. Beautiful dining room. In need of a lot of TLC. Pleasant waitress. Very basic food. Nothing to write home about. No wonder it was quiet.
