Consistently good

Have visited this pub and restaurant many times. The food is consistently good and the service excellent. Very efficient and friendly staff. Lunches and dinners have a good choice of food and reasonably priced. Situated in a picturesque little village with a lovely view.

This pub had been well praised in the reviews of a house we were staying in close by. We could not fault the staff - so friendly and welcoming. Our expectations of the food on offer had been raised by all the glowing reviews and while it wasn't bad, it wasn't great. When they asked if everything was OK we... More

What can I say 😀 This quaint little pub is nestled on The Green in Aldbrough St John The food is home cooked and fabulous. The service is faultless. Nothing is too much trouble and children are made more than welcome. We've been a few times for Sunday lunch and it was delicious. Would love to get rid of my... More

A delicious lunchtime meal with two friends today. The menu had something for everyone for all three courses and all the food was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is very good, the village is delightful and the pub/restaurant is clearly very well known locally, as it seemed fully booked this Sunday lunchtime. Friendly service and good choice of wines. We will... More

We called into this pub using the "near the motorways" book as we don't like motorway service station food, what a fantastic pub, the food was beautifully prepared and served, we liked it so much we called in on the return trip a week later with 6 members of the family. We all had something differenty off the menu and... More

My wife's cousin is lucky enough to have moved to Aldbrough St John, with The Stanwick as his local pub. We had a great family night out at the pub, with plenty of conversation with the staff who made us feel very much at home. The bar looks like the place where you could spend many and hour chatting with... More

We have been regulars here on Saturday lunchtimes for many years and would not hesitate to recommend it. We have also brought friends and relatives here, who also thoroughly enjoyed it. The steak sandwiches (also baguettes) are the best we have eaten anywhere in the world, and the chips are also memorable. There are a good selection of beers including... More
