We attended a black tie function for some 75 people. The food was excellent though I admit I did not know what to expect when I ordered ham hock as a starter. The meat was excellent but lacked some toast or bread. A main of roast beef with Yorkshire pudding was as it should be and the pudding of treacle... More

Dear jigsaw01, Thank you for coming to visit us on Saturday. Thank you also for your kind comments regarding the quality of the food. I agree with your comments that some of these silly errors have let us down and I will address these straight away. We do a lot of functions and weddings so we are use to dealing... More

Thank you for so many wonderful meals on many occasions. The staff are brilliant and the food is fantastic. Plus there is a great accessible toilet which is both convenient (excuse the pun) and well maintained. A lesson that could be learnt by other hotels in Northallerton. The value for money is outstanding and they have some great offers for... More

My better half coaxed me into lunch here, although must admit did enjoy previous visit. We arrived about 12.15 to find it very busy, and although we had not booked managed to squeeze us in. For a starter I opted for potato skins with chorizo and cheese topping the amount was a meal in itself, th eother starter being whitebait... More

Visited with a group of people for a night out, food was delicious, everyone had something different and everyone praised what they'd had. Took my husband the following week so he could enjoy it too.

We hadn't been to this pub for several years, and remembered it as a place that attracted youngsters and not really our cup of tea. However we went with friends who recommended it and were pleasantly surprised. It was very busy - and quite noisy - as it was a Friday evening and there were several family groups, but service... I have visited the Village Inn on 3 occasions since late December 2014. The staff are polite, friendly and efficient and the food very good. All in all this is an ideal place to go for excellent food and good value for money.
