My husband and I visited last night, I have to say the food was fantastic. I had the sea bass and my husband had the steak, both were perfect. 10 out of 10.. The service was excellent and all the waitresses were lovely and never left us waiting. Will 100% be back.

Hidden away on West Street this little cottage is not unlike Dr Who's tardis once inside it appears to go on for ever. We visited early evening, early in the week and not surprisingly it wasn't too busy. That said the place has atmosphere and the waitress (a family member) was a real gem. Our meals were roasted belly pork... More

We ate here as a family group of 6 including kids. The staff were very accommodating and more than helpful. The food was of a very high standard and there was a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. Utilising the 'beat the clock menu' there was an excellent choice at a reasonable price. Only one negative is they had ran out... More

Myself and friends eat out at least four times a year and nearly every time it is at Shakesby's. I recently visited with 3 friends, the staff are always lovely and attentive, the food as always was absolutely gorgeous. I had fresh local asparagus wrapped in parma ham to start, and 3 of us had Beef Wellington for main, which... More

Food was amazing, went for the "Beat the Clock" menu which is great value. Had steak which was cooked perfectly, handcooked chips were some of the best I've had. One of the stand out points is the large bowl of freshly cooked seasonal veg, cooked well and complimented the food great. Has a real rural, "cottagey" kind of feel to... More

We came here on advice from a friend. We was staying in Woodhall spa so made the short trip to Horncastle. Great food and service. Very enjoyable.

Just returned from another visit to Shakesby's, amazing food as always. Staff are so polite and friendly. I ordered my usual starter of goat cheese and absolutely fantastic as expected. I went for the steak and chips for main which I struggled to finish as such generous portions. Very accommodating when I asked to order off menu (coleslaw on the... More

Shakesby's offer fantastic filling 'fancy' dishes at very reasonable prices. The restaurant is aimed more at couples than families and the atmosphere is ideal for a relaxed meal where you can enjoy each course. The staff don't rush you through it seems that the table is yours for the evening and the staff have the intelligence and know how to... More

Excellent service and atmosphere, great food and presentation. Delightful building, staff friendly and gave a brief history of the building. Food outstanding, thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

Our friends who live in a nearby village took us to this restaurant and so glad they did! The restaurant is situated in an old 17th century cottage, that backs onto a small river, giving it a relaxed, cosy atmosphere. We received a very warm and friendly reception on arrival and the owner/chef Mark, came out to say hello and... More
