just okay

I have eaten here on many occasions and this was so disappointing. My starter was a medley of seafoods - I could only find prawns and they were tiny shrimps!!! The fishcakes in a spicy tomato sauce, which was my main course, was far worse than a year eight at Havelock could do!!! It was like a tin... read more

Always a high quality of food here and good choices We particularly enjoy the fish dishes and the wonderful choice of vegetables served with every meal The Melba toast is also a special treat that you don't get at many restaurants these days The crime brûlée is well worth the extra waistline! Service always attentive

We booked a Sunday lunch for a party of 8 in a build up for Christmas. We were all surprised at the poor service, along with the poor standard of food. Rock hard veg and dried out meat and the Yorkshire puddings were like rubber! To be fair the waitresses did work hard, but the head staff in the dining... More

Superb meal, you could have eaten it blind folded and known what you were eating. Everyting on the plate was tasty and cooked to perfection. Service excellent, a very civilsed way to spend sunday lunch and anyother day for that

We had a superb meal with a group of friends. The service is always excellent, as was the quanity and quality of the food. The whole evening was unhurried and the ambience perfect. Can't wait till next time.

I last visited The Kingsway over 30 years ago. Having recently moved back to the area after living away for a long time, I suggested to my wife we visit for Sunday lunch. Little has changed about the Kingsway i the intervening period - and I mean that in a very positive way. Avant garde and modern it is not.... More

We went on a Saturday night when it was busy but nothing was a problem they seemed to have plenty of time for all the guests, with plenty of hot food all with silver service, and the servers always had a smile, and to top that we had coffee in a quiet lounge area, looking forward to going again.

I stayed here for 3 weeks and loved it. The hotel has character, and the service was wonderful. The people who work there really go out of their way to serve you. The location is right on the water, with a running path steps away and multiple restaurants and bars, and the train station, within walking distance. Good WiFi and... More

We booked Sunday lunch as a party of 5 and we were not disappointed. The staff, as ever, are wonderfully friendly and ensure that your dining experience is superb. We were not rushed to our table, nor were we rushed away from it. There were obviously a number of regular diners as the staff addressed them by name, which speaks... More

Lunchtime experience this time. Three course meal accompanied by a bottle of Rioja, red wine at £ 19, all very agreable. The table for us 2 near the bay window was vast enough for well laid out tableware, glasses and dishes on a white cotton table cloth. White cotton serviettes. Romantic lights on, soft atmosphere and no noise was heard... More
