Took a trip out to The Crown Inn yesterday having read the reviews on this page. The place was completely deserted and had been closed for a few weeks according to a local. Nothing in the windows to suggest that this was temporary. A bit disappointing!

This is our second visit in 6 months. We just called in at 8pm on a Thursday. The pub was warm and welcoming with logs fires in each little room. The food was fantastic, langoustines to start, then the duck. Beautifully cooked with lovely jus and veg. Extra onion rings - so light and tasty - and the chips. Staff... More

We are local to The Crown and eat there regularly, because it is simply the best eating place for miles around. We do like to eat well, and only tend to eat at 'high quality' places, where the food is something special that we couldn't make ourselves. We are very lucky, therefore, to have such a place within very easy... More

We live locally and were very disappointed a few years ago when The Crown closed down. It eventually reopened and changed hands several times never achieving the standards it had reached in the past. However towards the end of 2012 Mike and Phil took over the running of the place and its better than ever. Really good food with a... More

This pub was suggested by a local lady and we're glad she did. Attentive service, lovely food and excellent value - an unexpected pleasure on a rainy day.

After a long wet walk and some difficulty finding the pub, the experience was well worth the wait. We were welcomed into the bar area where open fire was burning. We ordered drinks and were ushered into a snug at the other side of the bar and a fire was lit there too. My pint of Draught Bass was excellent,... More

Four of us visited for dinner, we are not regulars but have made several previous visits over recent years usually for a birthday or anniversary celebration, returning in the expectation of certain reliable standards and value. It is with some regret that we report this as a disappointing dining experience. Probably the most annoying feature of our meal was the... More

I have been to the Crown a few times now, and each time have found the staff, food and atmosphere to be great. It's a traditional local pub, with good food, beers and the 2 guys who run the place (Mike & Phil) are very friendly. The garden area is very large and well presented, with plenty of tables and... We eat out, at least, once a week and stopped going to The Crown about 18 months ago due to the poor quality. After reading the reviews in May and June, and the news that the old chef had returned, we were really looking forward to eating at The Crown again. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. It says something when... More

Recently me and my family decided to give The Crown Inn a second chance after a really terrible meal and awful experience last year. We were all a bit apprehensive about returning, hoping our previous encounter was just a one off bad time. On arrival we found out there had been a change in ownership and you can really tell,...
