Great Sunday lunch

First visit and took family for a Sunday lunch . We like the layout and furnishing , very country and very cosy. Roast was excellent . Service was friendly and efficient . I had mussels , again a good choice but needs a finger bowl and a waste bowl. You can't go wrong with pubs in this group .

We really enjoyed our Saturday lunchtime visit to the Spread Eagle. Nibble starters of Salmon Balls and Honey Chipolatas were delightful with the Chipolatas being incredibly hot when they arrived steaming from the kitchen. Chicken with Asparagus and a Gammon steak followed which were delicious. The female staff looked after us throughout and plied our dog with treats from the... More

Always enjoy eating at the Spread Eagle and the food is consistently good. The situation is superb at the end of Sawley village and overlooking the River Ribble. There are good views from the restaurant windows which on this occasion were open creating a welcome flow of air on a warm, humid afternoon. The staff are always pleasant and the... More

Fab food, reasonably prices, quick service and the pub is gorgeous and next to some abbey ruins. Will definitely be going back!

We had a superb meal here. Tasty food cooked and presented fantastically, the chefs obviously take great pride in there work, using only the best produce. Fantastic variety on the menus and an extensive wine menu.Cannot fault one single bit of it. Very friendly, attentive staff who cannot do enough for you. We will definitely return!

The critical ingredients required for an enjoyable meal out are a combination of high standards of food, service and ambience, all of which were in evidence a few nights ago at the Spread Eagle. The three of us arrived without a reservation when they first opened for dinner. We were greeted with friendly faces followed by a few humorous exchanges,... More

Went here with family on spur of the moment. We have been to most the other pubs owned by the small chain and all have been excellent. The surroundings in this one are very nice indeed and welcoming. We had lunch including starters and main course and a child's meal. The food was very good for everyone especially the pie.... More

This is a lovely restaurant and became very appealing for regular visits because of its value three course lunch menu. It has now been removed and there is only the a la carte menu. This is obviously much more expensive. The food is great but won't be going back so regularly now as its too expensive.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your experience with us, I did explain to you when I took your order that we have condensed our early bird menu into just one simple menu, all our Early Bird favourites are all still there, and you can still have 3 courses for the same price we look... Just returned from a fun Sunday lunch with friends at the Spread Eagle. The food was delicious and the atmosphere very relaxed. An interesting menu; I had chorizo and prawns followed by fish pie, other friends had muscles, goats cheese and a lentil tageen. Universal approval. The only niggle was that the dishes were a little over salted. Friendly and... More
