Feel really let down after our last visit to the Crown & Thistle, what's going on!? I have been on numerous occasions before and this has always been my first choice for excellent food and service, but both were sadly lacking. We were the only couple in on Thursday afternoon and had braved the poor weather to take our custom... More

I took family for a meal on tuesday night. By the time we arrived there was only one other person in and it took us 10 minutes to get a drink as she totally ignored us to carry on a conversation . Food was just ok . We had finished our starters and had to wait for over 10 minutes... More

Didn't feel welcome from the second we walked in - would have liked to have sat at the bar for a drink but was shimmied through to the "snug" which was basically the corridor between the bar and the restaurant and was busier than Barton bridge! Place felt "damp" & "dirty" and there was nothing to entice us to order... More

Me and the Mrs called in here on a Sunday afternoon. We both had the 2 course Sunday lunch its was excellent. There is a good selection of beers and wines and the real fires add to the cozy atmosphere. Staff were great we will certainly be coming back..

Food was very tasty and hot. Staff lovely. Reasonably priced. Will definitely visit again and have recommended to others. Disapointed that the real fire remained unlit, as this would have added to the ambience and atmosphere especially in the middle of December!!

My husband and I have just been AGAIN for a lovely meal. The words cannot describe how amazing the food is. The cheese and onion pie is to die for. We both had that with chips and beans. The portions that you get are massive 😊. And to top it off M'O'S HOMEMADE FERORRO ROCHER ICE - CREAM is the... More

One of the best pieces of meat to pass my lips. The steak was unbelievably good. I had the fillet, it melted in the mouth like chocolate. The missus had rib eye, wonderful flavour and a massive slab of meat. My dad also had the fillet and they boxed half of it up for him to take home. My mum... More

We haven't been to the Crown & Thistle for about 15 years and this time was because planned eating venue was full - after a walk round Entwistle Res - we were ready for a good lunch. We are so very pleased the other place was full - The Crown & Thistle was wonderful - lovely, lovely staff, great food... More

We come here regularly. I had my daughters first birthday here and it's our choice when dining out. My only problem is choosing what to order because everything on the menu is so good. The pizzas are better than in my local italian restaurant and the pie is so yummy. Friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere. Excellent table service and very good... More

A group of 8 hungry walkers turned up on spec on a Wednesday lunchtime. We were readily accommodated and all of us had one of the pies which are a speciality on Wednesdays. Some of us had starters which were all received with praise and the pies were equally enjoyed. It wasn't high cuisine but good pub fare at a... More
