I have lavished praise on this establishment previously but what a disappointment the three course Christmas Dinner proved to be. Admittedly relatively cheap for the Freemasons but miniscule portions, e.g. one stunted parsnip, miniature pigs in blankets and nothing served on the side, just the small pile of food, per course, adrift on the crockery. All barely hot enough especially... More

The Freemasons Arms is a fantastic restaurant that on first impression looks like a qwaint country pub (which it is!) but it is also a tremendous restaurant headed by Steven Smith. First class experience from the moment we arrived until we left some 4 very enjoyable hours later. Highly recommended.

We visited the Freemasons last night hopefully to have a nice meal. I chose the Pumpkin Veloute, or in other words soup with a cheese hot dog on the side. It was served in a small cup, it was only just aired and if I had been blindfolded I would not have known what I was eating, it tasted of... More

We went for my 50th birthday rather than go to Northcote Manor which is just down the road for a change big mistake for the same price range. The one scallop starters were small and only aired. One of the party had salmon with a frozen purée of potato on top which was particularly unpleasant. The main course for 3... More

8 of us arrived for our Christmas lunch and as ever were not disappointed. Some of us opted for the Christmas fair others selected from the normal menu. Everyone one of us enjoyed the beautifully prepared feast. Food amazing and service second to none. Not sure what you have to do to get a Michelin Star but it certainly deserves... More

Anybody who does not like the Freemasons must be mad - the food there is probably the best pub food ever - the service very professional and the atmosphere on a cold damp Sunday was amazing - we were sat upstairs next to the fire (unfortunately not real but still affective) where we were served a first class Sunday lunch... Tucked away in a charming village in the Ribble Valley this is more a restaurant than a pub. But don't let that deter anyone, because if you make the effort to find it you will be well rewarded. My wife and I have previously enjoyed excellent meals and this occasion was no exception. I had the Wild Hare cooked over... More

“What a disappointment ! ….... Sadly the evening did not live up to the hype. The Freemasons is really no longer a pub but a restaurant in all but name and should be judged accordingly. However I have to say the menu is far too pretentious and certainly over-priced. We elected for the table d'hote menu rather than the tasting... More

We have been to the Freemason Arms a few times now with mostly brilliant results. Today was not an exception, started with a selection of delicious mini warm brioches and a little sack of granary rolls. My pumpkin velouté was again very tasty but with the addition of a cheese filled mini hot dog. My fellow eaters sampled the Halibut and... More
