Although very enjoyable felt it was definitely style over substance.

Although we enjoyed our meal at the Freemasons we definitely felt that it was more style over substance. There were too many flavours and too much going on. Lovely pub/restaurant in a nice location. Lots of beams and stone floors downstairs, more formal type dining upstairs. Aged beef was delicious as was the salmon with sorrel sauce and lamb belly -all presented very nicely and friendly staff

Visited the Freemason's in a foursome. We've been before and although not overly impressed, we made one further attempt to understand just what all the fuss was about. Celebration menu? Sorry, but in our opinion, there was absolutely nothing to celebrate - definitely a case of "style over substance". The potato purée was simply baby-food and was an insult to... More

What a wonderful little 'gastro pub' food and service of a very high standard without the edge of the really high end fine dingin establishments. Would certainly recomend.

Yes, if you only want a quick pint, this probably isn't the place for you. And yes, if you're expecting a steak and kidney pie with a mountain of chips and mushy peas for £7.99 then please jog on to the nearest Wetherspoons because you're not going to find that here. What you will find here is some truly outstanding... More

Visited on a Saturday Afternoon and four of us ate with drinks at a cost of £250. One of our party is a veggy and we checked before hand and were told that wasn't a problem even though the dishes on the main menus had few if any veggy options. The vegetarian amongst us was offered dishes off the menu... More

Make no mistake The Freemasons Arms is an upmarket restaurant - it's no pub. There really is not much standing space to enjoy the ales on offer or perhaps a game of dominos that pubs in yesteryear once offered. If you sit down you are eating! The menu is limited and in places over-priced. Out of the six of us none... More

If the above mentioned cuisine floats your boat then you might probably like this place. Not for us though, firstly, when I see my main meal coming and mistake it for a starter I'm on a downhill run straight away, secondly I like to be able to recognise whats on my plate at a glance, nope, I had to rely...
