We eat in the bar as we had our dogs with us. Black pudding home made by the restaurant and served as a slice. Wonderful. 3 ways with pork was stunning especially the belly pork. Could not comment about puddings as I was too full. Excellent value for money and hearty portons too.

Not cheap but a quality product. Lovely warm scone, cream, jam which is oversized. Café tier coffee is of good quality but ask for hot milk as otherwise you will be brought cold milk . Pleasant and interesting rooms with real fires and some good views.

Consistently excellent food, drink, service and atmosphere. Our 3 Chow Chow dogs are made so welcome, they have "become famous" at the Inn. There is nothing to dislike, in such a well oiled establishment, who knows what first class service is all about.

We visited the Inn at Whitewell as part of 'The Trip' - our own 5 part dining experience, 4 hours from our home town of London. We arrived at dinner, passing through a buzzy bar restaurant to the main restaurant at the back. It lacked the amount of atmosphere of the bar and was darker and quieter. We decided to... More

Lunch in the bar today was absolutely superb. Black pudding starter was the tastiest thing I have eaten for some time. The lamb that followed was superb. Service was excellent, atmosphere very relaxed and the setting is stunning. All washed down by an excellent pint of Timothy Taylor's. Our dogs loved the place as we'll. We will be back soon!

We visited the Inn at Whitewell for lunch for the first time recently, after having seen it featured on the TV program “The Trip” with Steve Coogan and Rob Bryden some time ago. It is situated really in quite a remote but stunning location overlooking a bend of the river Hodder near Clitheroe in Lancashire. The building is stunning both... More

My wife and I, both being foodies, decided to visit The Inn at Whitewell after watching The Trip. I have to say, this is probably my favourite place in the country.. Food is exceptional, service is prompt and the location is idealic.. The pub shop is unquie too selling fine wines, good cookbooks and Moulton Brown products.. My only slice... More

We have been visiting this this hotel for many years and it still delivers a wonderful experience - it's not a Michelin posh food restaurant (God forbid), but a regular top notch English food offer, very restrained elegance.

Visited here for weekend lunch whilst taking a detour from the M6 and taking the lovel scenic drive of the trough of bowland. The pub is large, and clearly a lot has been spent on it to bring it up to a high modern standard, with over 20 rooms, a vintners, and a bar/restaurant area spreading across multiple interconnecting rooms....
