We called in at the Inn at Whitewell for a quick lunch. Its many large, eclectically furnished rooms had welcoming fires blazing away in open fireplaces. Families with small children and large dogs made themselves at home in this comfortable and informal setting. I had a tasty courgette soup with soft bread, and my husband enjoyed grilled Norfolk kippers. I... More

Popped in here for lunch recently and was not disappointed. Prompt, efficient and friendly service. Delicious food, chilli squid was fab, locally sourced chicken with celariac purée, roasted squash etc was great and husband thoroughly enjoyed the pie. Reasonably priced for well above average food. The setting is stunning overlooking the rolling hills of the Trough of Bowland, you really... More

Lovely Victorian-era hotel with several charming rooms for either drinks or meals, several with real open fires. A lonely, beautiful spot in upland Lancashire's Forest of Bowland, overlooking a river, valley and surrounding hills close to the border with North Yorkshire - the main dining room comes with views of all this. You can go for walks including onto the... More

Beautiful place. Always busy on holidays. Great at any time but the roaring fires and Christmas decorations take it up a notch. Unfortunately, it's popularity is spreading and it does get busy. If you can find a day when it's not so busy and while away a few house it is very special

This is probably my favourite place to visit for a meal. The location is stunning and the inn itself is lovely and relaxing . The food is always fabulous. I especially love the lamb. Everything about the place exudes a relaxing quality . The bar area has lots of atmosphere. There is also a more formal dining room and another... More

We'd been on a lovely walk across the fells from Chipping and we were lucky enough to find a vacant table ( which is unusual ) , far safer to book! The beer was fantastic and our food was delivered swiftly and with finesse. The menu is extensive with something for everyone. The inn never fails to make you smile,... More

This is a special secret place that is now very well known, You can have traditional fish and chips or something lovely like duckling from the specials. Atmosphere is relaxed yet up market. Views are superb.
