great food, great views.

For such a well known foodie place (#TheTrip) the Inn has a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere and its excellent food only it makes it more special. Staff were efficient and discreet. A great evening.

The Inn at Whitewell on the Lancashire/Yorkshire border combines, as such places in this area do, a degree of refinement with hearty portions served in a nice variety of medium-sized rooms, giving the impression of homeliness. Most of us could not manage a luncheon starter but I could not resist the black pudding (I never can) with apple and onion... More

The Inn at Whitewell is a superb venue. Hidden in the Duchy of Lancaster (with Her Majesty no less being the holder of the deeds to the place), it represents a fantastic find. The interior is sprawling, yet it maintains intimacy with its many nooks and crannies. Oak beams, open fireplaces, and walls adorned with tilts to its history greet... More

Disappointing food, lovely location covers an otherwise very average experience. Expensive for what it offers. Breakfast better than evening meal.

Had the most expensive slice of bread ever.....apparently an open sandwich won't be going again . Very disappointed as had been told the food was good.

Went for special birthday treat for my mum and it was fabulous! The setting is idyllic and the drive over from Cheshire was lovely. Staff were attentive and helpful. Menu had lots of choice. We had all three courses and every dish was amazing, well presented and tasted great! Very highly recommend!

I was recommended to try this yesterday so thought would go along today for lunch.it was further than anticipated just over 27 miles so got the 2.07 to be told food orders had finished 2.00 with a bit of persuasion the guy on the bar went to the kitchen and came back and offered fish pie or sandwiches we reluctantly... The view sitting outside with a drink is beautiful. One of my favourite places to go. The food is also very good, but you need to book! It's a nice place to go for a drink after a long walk :-)

It has a great location on the banks of the river Hodder and we were lucky enough to acquire a riverside table for lunch earlier last week. The rolling hills, the driver, the rolling hills and the sheer ambience of the hotel/ restaurant make it a great place to visit. We all chose various sandwiches - honey glazed ham, roast... More

Kind review thank you very much. Glad you enjoyed the open sandwich, our brown bread takes a bit of beating, without being immodest! Thanks again. Regards Cb More

We has the luncheon menu, there was a great variety and a specials board as well. We had fish pie and sausage and mash (I asked for gravy as an addition and this was no extra charge). For desert we has chocolate and salted caramel tart. All of the food was well presented and tasted delicious. I've had most of... More

Thank you for your kind review. We are so lucky to live here in the valley, you can never tire of these views. The only surprise is that the area isn't that bit more famed for it's beauty. Thank you again. Regards Cb More
