Having eaten at The Red Pump on many occasions over the years I have to just say a few words regarding the quality and consistency of the food that is served here year in year out. The Red Pump has been given many awards and accolades over the years all of which are richly deserved. My wife and I visited... More

This is not the first time we have been to the Red Pump (we have been lot's and lot's of times) but I am afraid it will be some time before we go again. Everything is still good about the Red Pump. Apart from the service, unless there is a waitress on. The last time we went in there was... More

The Red Pump is a beautifully designed country pub with a good menu and well cooked food. The rabbit casserole & venison & pork burger are top notch & for desert the spiced poached pears with semifrado & cinder toffee is to die for. The pub layout makes for a lovely intimate setting. Will certainly visit again.

We came to Clitheroe in oct 2012 to explore the surrounding countryside and by good fortune came across the Red Pump Inn - we would thoroughly recommend both. This is a very homely, well kept and well run establishment, with great walks to be had from the doorstep along the nearby river. We had a friendly welcome from the owners... More

Stayed for a couple of nights in October. Lovely old inn about 4 miles from Clitheroe. Inside roaring log fire. Contemporary bedrooms. We were welcomed warmly by the owners on arrival. If you are looking for a rural retreat this would be a good option. We ate both nights at the inn. If we ate meat it looks like it... More

Arrived on a very wet Sunday afternoon to be greeted so warmly. We chose to sit in the dining room & it was very comfortable. As mentioned in earlier reviews there was no background music but there was in the bar so if you prefer it then sit in the bar! We had a starter of smoked salmon & a... More

Ordered the mini fish pie for starters, this was very tasty and had plenty of fish, prawns etc in a very tasty sauce it topped with a lovely cheesy crispy mash. We then decided on the slow cooked bellypork, even though we have had differnt versions of this in lots of restaurants over the summer, I must say this was... More

I have lived in this area for years and think its a shame that such a pub still exists. I visited with family having already eaten there in the past! We were the only diners and the place was dead - not even someone drinking at the bar. Service was slow and the food was distinctly average. I had fish... More

Had a pleasant family meal last week. Everything nice. Liquorice ice cream delicious!! Quiet night so would have been nice to have some background music. Nice food, but pricey - sirloin steak was £23! Good selection of wines, but again, quite pricey. Good beers. Would return if in area.
