Good new hands at The Pump

This establishment has had it's ups and downs over the years but we were aware of new owners (they have been here seven weeks) but we went with a beef farmer friend who had tried it recently and said he had had the best steak for years here. He was right, the steaks were exceptional and the owners... read more

Called in to the Red Pump yesterday after a long walk round Dunsop Bridge with friends. There has been a change of owners since we were here last, the new owners have been in since January 2015. We were made very welcome and the atmosphere was friendly. The Inn has been redecorated and looks very nice, retaining its unique feel... More

We visited last night to celebrate out anniversary. We were greeted at the door and made welcome throughout the whole evening. The steaks we had were some of the best we have ever eaten, and were perfectly done with some really fantastic onion rings! On top of it all, we had no problem with the price we paid for our... We were warmly greeted by the landlord at the bar and tried my first ever Guinness which was lovely. I chose the salmon starter (lovely soda bread) and my sister and her partner had the black pudding, for mains I chose the fish and chips (delicious) sister chose the chowder and her partner had the largest steak I had ever... We went the first week of opening and we had a superb meal along with a pint of Hen Harrier that was a best pint of bitter I think I have ever tasted. There were six of us and we were all well looked after by the new owners. The six of us said we must go back again and... More

My husband and I went last Saturday night knowing that it was under new management and had been recently refurbished and we certainly were not disappointed. From going in and having a drink in the bar first we were well looked after all evening by Jonathan and Fran, they were excellent hosts. We both had starters which were delicious, and... More

We were in a mixed group of adults and teenage kids and there were 14 of us so restaurants are often unwelcoming. Not here! The owners and their great team were really attentive, adjusted the meals exactly as requested and did so with a smile on their faces and a bit of humour. I believe they have only taken over... The staff here were very friendly and the food was very good. The surroundings were comfy and pleasant. We ordered fish & chips which came with home made Tartare sauce and the slow roasted belly of pork. Both meals were delicious and we thought it was good value for money.

I went to the Red Pump for the first time last night with my Mum and Girlfriend. We had three courses. Parfait and a white and black pudding with a runny poached egg to start was lovely. Then we had fish and chips which was light and crispy, Fran's Irish stew, full of lamb and veg on the side. I... More

Popped in to check out the re-furnished Red Pump Inn now under new management/ownership with Fran and John as excellent hosts. Prime rib shared between 2 was superb.
