We stumbled on this place by chance after walking into the pub and it was the best find during our trip to the UK. Gorgeous converted barn lit with fairy lights and mismatched tables- very romantic. The menu is great but may be a bit daunting for some people to order their meal this way. Trust me and take the risk... More

First time visited. Will soon be going back. No menu no problem. So much variety, something for every taste. Staff helpful . Really tasty food. Good value for money.

Odd concept that works, no menu just a set price for a variety of tapas style dishes. Steak, potatoes, chicken, meat balls, wild mushrooms, sea bass and salad all well prepared and flavoursome. Service friendly and informal and excellent value for money. Will be back.

We've visited this place twice now and will definitely go again. Obviously some people are troubled by the lack of a menu but this is not an issue for us. They have been happy to accommodate the fact we eat fish but not meat and the dishes have been generally excellent. For our party of 3 we had king prawns,... More

On our first night in whitstable we came here after a recommendation from a local. The atmosphere is really relaxed and inviting. There wasn't a menu but instead after ordering drinks a lovely waitress came and took a seat with us and explained how it worked. As we were hungry we opted for the 3 dishes per course for £20... The food here is fantastic, all really fresh produce and cooked to order. Very generous portions (couldn't quite finish it all). Excellent value for money and would recommend this to anyone.

WOW ! We booked a meal at Saltmarsh on saturday having had a recommendation from friends. When we read the reviews on this site before going we nearly cancelled. I am so pleased we didn't. We were greeted by James the manager shown to our table for two. The services was perfect, not hurried or intrusive. The food was excellent... More

Don't go here expecting matching furniture and linen, an extensive menu or a 'children's menu' (! honestly - what is the matter with the people who complained that their kids were not catered for? ) but if you want fresh food, very generously served, this is the perfect place. For £20 each, we had: juicy garlic prawns in the shell,... More

I couldn't agree more with the last reviewer - it's such a shame, just when we thought we had found our perfect restaurant! We first visited at the beginning of July - a lovely evening, my husband had wandered into the Duke to listen to a band warm up. We drifted into a perfect meal - well cooked and well... More
