Tasty and Pricey

Great food: fresh fish paired with interesting ingredients. Service was a bit slow and the prices are too high. But it is a nice treat.

We tried this restaurant due to the good reviews and were disappointed. Both myself and my husband ordered moules in ale with thyme and garlic. They were really not good, not fresh and tasted very gritty, so we both left most of them. The sauce tasted of nothing but mild ale. At £15.95 per portion and seeing as Whitstable is... More

Not cheap but a very high standard of food, with interesting menu for both meat and fish. Presentation was beautiful. High quality ingredients.

My friend and I had a lovely 3 hour lunch today. The food was fab as always especially the antipasti starter. There was a lovely atmosphere and although I was incredibly indecisive, the staff were patient, kind and friendly.

Bland and tasteless food, very expensive and small portions. Will not be eating here again. Plenty of better restaurants in whitstable.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. We were visiting the area and were attracted by the blackboard menus in the window which offered interesting and exciting choices. Having been to the Sportsman the night before, the restaurant had a lot to live up to. But it did. They clearly use good local produce to deliver delicious results. Terrific food, great atmosphere... Popped in for lunch on a busy Tuesday in the holidays. They were very full, but it was no trouble for them to hold the next available table so we came back in half an hour. The fairly small lunch menu had no shortage of delicious options and the staff were exceptionally friendly & helpful. Everything was excellent but the... More

Have always liked the look of this restaurant, we popped in Easter Friday and the service was brisk, borderline rude and the food below par . The beef brisket was more like corned beef , dry and old , though a sizeable portion . Couldn't down more than two mouthfuls . Vegetables and stock were flavourless and unseasoned . My... More
