Really good food and atmosphere

Looked for a nice place for a late lunch and found it here. Very good service sat us quickly and attentive and friendly. Good choice of wines including Kentish and liked the list of local suppliers on the wall. I chose kedgeree with curry ketchup on the side. The ketchup was gorgeous though I would... read more

Johnny Depp supposedly loves sticky toffee pudding, and I'm sure he would love Samphires moist one served with ginger ice cream. This was a delicious dessert to finish off tasty large mussels cooked in cider and the special of the day of prawns served with rice. The restaurant is friendly and our waitress was welcoming and assisted us having a... More

Dinner on Saturday night. The restaurant has a good atmosphere: lively but not frenetic. The décor is attractive but not glitzy or gimmicky. The service was superb. Friendly and efficient. You got the impression that the staff really wanted to be there. But the primary reason for visiting any restaurant is the food and in this restaurant the food is... More

Popped in here with the wife for brunch. Even though this place is a tad seafood orientated (being by the sea and all that) they have always had a great veggie selection. This visit I had the Foresters Eggs (poached eggs on spinach with wild mushrooms in a hollandaise sauce served on muffins) which was amazing. Toast was expensive from... More

A lovely little restaurant in a quaint seaside town - I highly recommend a visit. Our starter platter was stand-out - a generous mix of mussels, pate, cheeses and meats with excellent bread and the mains were spot on. I had a delicious fish pie and my lunch companion enjoyed his duck leg. The lunch time menu was not as... More

We ate here on a friday evening and the restaurant was full.. The waitress who served us was very friendly and recommended a great English wine - which we probably would never have tried otherwise. The food was great and portions huge . The mussels were particularly good. Would definitely eat here aagain if in Whitstable.

This small restaurant serves a limited menu of really well cooked dishes. Starters were large and very tasty, especially the squid and white bean. The mussels were superb and the bacon & avocado salad delicious. The main courses were very good, with the 12 hour ox cheek being absolutely superb. The ambience was lovely, service very good and value good... More

We visited Samphire on a cold Friday night and it was just what we needed! The staff are friendly and polite. The food was just yummy. We had the olives to start followed by the mussels in local cider and the 12 hour slow cooked ox cheek and wow it was really great. I definitely recommend this small beautiful restaurant... More
