Found this place on winding roads to the NW of Royal Tunbridge Wells on Sunday mid afternoon. nice wines by the glass, really good selection of cask ales, pleasant atmosphere with families, better food than you would expect, salads that my quasi vegetarian daughter thought were quite good, special was rabbit wrapped in thin mild sausage over couscous with sundried... Indeed, a rural pub for those who do not wish discover the true rural countryside. Yes, it is pleasant for those seeking security and safety as we flock to the supermarkets. I applaud them for stocking Larkin's of Chiddingstone, a worthily bitter and a visit to the village of Chiddingstone and the shop as well as Chiddingstone Castle or Penshurst... More

Visited the Little Brown jug around 6pm on a Friday evening for a quick meal on the way home from work after my boyfriend got the trainn out to Chiddingstone to meet me there for a change. The place was practically empty and the welcome from the bar staff were less than welcoming. We were told to choose any table... More

Been twice recently and both times disappointed. Even though it was quite empty, especially for a Friday, the service was slow and not all the food arrived. When questioned about where the accompaniments were to two of the starters the waitress looked bemused. Even though we asked twice the remainder of the two starters never arrived. They did take the... More

We rolled up to the Little Brown Jug for a late Sunday afternoon lunch having pre-booked in advance. We waited patiently to be seated, waited patiently for our wine order to be taken, waited patiently for our wine to be delivered, waited patiently for our food to be ordered, waited incredibly patiently for the food to arrive. It was pure... More

Stopped at this pub on a Saturday night without having booked and the welcome was warm, the food delicious and the service swift and friendly. Loved the atmosphere! The beer garden is really nice, especially for families with children. We dined there with two teenagers and all of us loved the food. When going home the fairy lights were on... More

Four of us had a very pleasant lunch. The food was very good and the service, both for drinks and the food was excellent. We sat in the garden area and enjoyed the sunshine. We will return again in the near future.

This is a very large restaurant/pub, with dark oak polished tables surrounded by mismatched old-style chairs, charmingly chic. The food is well cooked and presented, and very generous portions. I think my partner was asked to eat Moby Dick (or at least a close cousin) as the fish and chips was ENORMOUS. My chicken Caesar salad was lovely and had... More
