Peggotty's Tea Shop has an interesting, ever changing decor inside the shop. Perhaps a little quirky? Bright paintings and hats (!) decorate the walls. There are tables in front of the shop, and also a couple of tables in the peaceful oasis of a back garden. The tea is from the local Kent Tea Company - loose leaf only. The cakes and scones are 100% homemade. Try the tangy lemon drizzle or the nutty coffee and walnut, 2 of the favourites.Or why not just go for a plain and simple old fashioned rock cake. They will not disappoint you.If you are feeling the need to be decadent, try a scrumptious afternoon tea - consisting of sandwiches of your choice, scones jam and clotted cream, and cake of your choice to finish. The cream teas are scrumptious - how can you resist?Go on - treat yourself!

lovely tea shop (pe)

Delicious scones. Excellent service and elegant surroundings. Nice window seat to watch the world go by. Will go again. That's all I want to say.

We were visiting this very pretty town in the heart of the weald of Kent. We needed a bit to eat, and saw this very inviting place that offered a good selection of home made food. Very clean, with each table bedecked with a small vase of flowers. All food is homemade, and so we decided on the soups, of... More

We visited Tenterton whilst staying in a nearby hotel. We passed a lot of lovely cafes but then saw Peggottys and decided to stop and have a spot of lunch . We chose the homemade broccoli and Stilton soup which was being served with either crusty bread or a warm cheese scone and we both decided on the scone. Both... More

A real old fashioned tea room with home-cooked cakes and food. Sadly on the day I visited they had run out of that day's gluten free cake so I had to get a lunch option rather than cake! The cake my partner had was pronounced delicious and the jacket potato I had was a really generous, well cooked one with... More

Very lovely tea room that is hidden down at the end of the high street. It's worth the walk to find it. If it's a nice day there is some seating in the garden out back, but the front room is lovely as well and decorated with pretty hats all over the wall. I've only had cream tea here so... More

Only our second visit to Tenterden, but we fancied a little bite to eat. After walking the length of the high street we found this place, I am pleased we did. Peggotty's is a little gem and I hope is doen't change, everything about the place was good, the staff (very young) were great, the food looked at tasted delicous.... More

Stopped in Tenterden for rest break on way to wedding. Parked at end of High St and found Peggottys tea shop. Small quaint but good service and good quality coffee. Cake was a. Good size. Nice and moist. Was a little pricier but the quality, portion size and free coffee refill made it worth while. Would go back.

Came in for afternoon tea which I felt was a little steep. £26 for pot of tea for 2, 2 sandwiches cut into 8 little triangles, 2 scones with small amount of jam and cream and 2 slices of cake. I feel I could have bought it all individually for cheaper. None the less very tasty and lovely staff.
