Peggotty's Tea Shop has an interesting, ever changing decor inside the shop. Perhaps a little quirky? Bright paintings and hats (!) decorate the walls. There are tables in front of the shop, and also a couple of tables in the peaceful oasis of a back garden. The tea is from the local Kent Tea Company - loose leaf only. The cakes and scones are 100% homemade. Try the tangy lemon drizzle or the nutty coffee and walnut, 2 of the favourites.Or why not just go for a plain and simple old fashioned rock cake. They will not disappoint you.If you are feeling the need to be decadent, try a scrumptious afternoon tea - consisting of sandwiches of your choice, scones jam and clotted cream, and cake of your choice to finish. The cream teas are scrumptious - how can you resist?Go on - treat yourself!

Pricy

Came in for afternoon tea which I felt was a little steep. £26 for pot of tea for 2, 2 sandwiches cut into 8 little triangles, 2 scones with small amount of jam and cream and 2 slices of cake. I feel I could have bought it all individually for cheaper. None the less very tasty and lovely staff.

Fresh scones for cream tea and the most delicious home-made cakes! Sit in the rear garden for quiet outdoor relaxation (one table in full sun and two in dappled shade in this sunny weather) or indoors- also tables on the street at the front. Been here twice this week.

Ideal if you are looking for a bit of peace and quiet, and olde worlde atmosphere. Everything seems very fresh, and thus is limited menu, but I prefer that to slightly stale stuff. Don't go looking for quick drink. It's for a 'sit and chat and watch the world go by' relaxed time. And does that well. The young waiter... More

Expected more from this tea room. Tea came long before food, so had finished drinking it by the time food arrived Sandwiches most were good but one was a bit dry round the edges . Nice scones but dry cakes. Service average.

Popped in for some lunch on the way back from a vineyard visit. I was starving and ordered the quiche, and was already planning which cake I'd have to follow. The quiche of the day was roasted red pepper and goats cheese... Absolutely delicious, honestly couldn't fault it, and with a beautifully fresh salad, including avocado, radish and tomatoes. I... We went here on a drive through Kent and were not disappointed. My top tip is to order the cream tea for two and to try and find a spot in the garden.

What a lovely, traditional tea shop in a great setting. Sat outside in a garden which was so peaceful and quiet; really authentic. Afternoon tea for two was served on a tiered stand and was very home made. The scones were so light and delicious - see the photos. The owner came out to introduce herself and this demonstration of... More

I have been to Peggotty's twice now and will be back again soon. Both times we have had the afternoon tea and it has been freshly made and everything is homemade as well. Sandwiches are lovely and the scones are to die for. Friendly service and quirky decor. Love this tiny tea room, give it a try.
