Peggotty's Tea Shop has an interesting, ever changing decor inside the shop. Perhaps a little quirky? Bright paintings and hats (!) decorate the walls. There are tables in front of the shop, and also a couple of tables in the peaceful oasis of a back garden. The tea is from the local Kent Tea Company - loose leaf only. The cakes and scones are 100% homemade. Try the tangy lemon drizzle or the nutty coffee and walnut, 2 of the favourites.Or why not just go for a plain and simple old fashioned rock cake. They will not disappoint you.If you are feeling the need to be decadent, try a scrumptious afternoon tea - consisting of sandwiches of your choice, scones jam and clotted cream, and cake of your choice to finish. The cream teas are scrumptious - how can you resist?Go on - treat yourself!

Good cup of tea!

What a lovely old fashioned tea shoppe, décor and table settings do it justice, just a pity that the staff felt more at home in the kitchen than in the front of the house! It wasn't very busy when we arrived but although there were at least four people in and out of the room, we seemed to have... read more

We enjoyed the special of home-made carrot and coriander soup, served with a cheese scone. The hot drinks, loose-leaf tea and filter coffee with free refills, were good value. Service was friendly, efficient and polite, just right for this olde tea shoppe. Space is very tight, particularly, the two tables in the bay windows, which also suffer from direct sun... More

We looked after a neighbours cat whilst they were away and were rewarded with an afternoon tea for two at Peggotty's. My wife visits here quite often but it does not fall into my 'must visits', but each to their own! We booked and were welcomed warmly. We had to wait awhile for our tea but it was well worth... After a nice walk around Tenterton we chose to stop for lunch at peggottys ... The pretty garden tables were all full so we opted for the tables on the pavement ... We ordered home made lemonade & a tea with prawn salad and ginger cake to follow... All were served very quickly by very nice friendly staff- the food... More

Wonderful cream teas and old world quaint . Great little place could show the larger cafés in the town how it's done .

Service is hit and miss, rock cakes were awful but toasted sandwich was ok. Limited space outside and in. Opt for the Coffee which is refilled, if you are thirsty, as this is good value. Small outside area to the rear.

The shop is excellent for a cream tea. The cakes and scones were light and crumbly. The staff are friendly and nothing too much trouble so always try to visit when I go to Tenterden as its a treat. They have hats on display and the crockery is pretty. I love this sort of independent café as its original and... More
