The Ambrette is my favourite restaurant in Thanet, the food is always marvellous BUT I went with my daughter two weeks ago and although the food was as good as ever the service was very slow I commented on this but thought it was just a blip, however dining there again today we had to wait over an hour between... Definitely 5 stars for the food and service. Delicious Indian food served in a modern style with amazing chutneys - wonderful! The nan breads are like none I have tasted - worth the visit just for these. Ambience is not 5 stars just because of the layout, but forget that and get yourself along there for the food

I visited with two friends for dinner on a Monday night. The food isn't your standard curry house fare which makes it interesting. I did really enjoy what I ordered as the flavours and spices were subtle enough that you could really taste the food itself. My experience was just let down by the disappointment that three of the four... More

The dishes we ordered were outstanding - beautifully subtle flavours, and a picture to look at. Some were old British favourites given an Indian twist, such as rhubarb crumble, flavoured with cardammon and served with blackberry and star anise icecream with a hint of rose! Truly memorable! The crab cakes with roasted beetroot and mild spices were delicious. The decor... More

The food was amazing, the chocolate samosas were to die for and can not fault it one bit. The staff were attentive and looked after us well. It is very clear that this restaurant deserves all the awards it has won over the last few years, will definitely return again.

Following an excellent visit to Ambrette, Rye by my sister we decided to try Margate. The welcome was warm and we repeated the fact that we preferred mildly spiced food (already mentioned when I booked). We were told that none of the dishes were spicy but this is obviously personal taste. Starters were pronounced good especially the sausage dish. The... More

Up market indian cuisine but not as good as Indian Essence in Petts Wood. Very poor 1st impression from the building but waitress was very friendly and atmosphere was very good once inside. Lunch menu quite limited but excellent value with added palate cleansers between courses. All dishes were described at the table which is always a great idea. Not... More

We went on a very busy Saturday in August on a friend's recommendation. Very modest external appearance, right in the middle of town. The lunch options were limited but excellent value and the quality was first class. Great presentation, great service. I'm now going to try their restaurant in Canterbury.

We were taken to this restaurant in early August 2014 by friends of ours who live locally. Despite its unprepossessing appearance from the outside (it's a converted public house that has seen better days) the inside of the restaurant is pleasant enough - 3 star in hotel terms with around 50 covers. The atmosphere was pleasingly informal. The cuisine is... More
