There are certain Indian restaurants outside the high street range that offer an extra special experience to the customer. The Ambrette is one of these. Located in a street behind the main shopping centre in Margate, the venue is quiet, which adds to the tranquillity inside. A quick glance at the menu confirms its connoisseur's quality at modest prices ,... More

I've wanted to go here for a very long time. I wasn't disappointed. it was a Monday night yet still enough people in there to not feel quiet. and the food was of an excellent standard. presentation was outstanding, but it tasted delicious as well. service was very good as well, not overbearing or rushed. a lovely evening. thank you

Although this is an Indian restaurant there is not a curry on the menu, but a fusion of nouvelle cuisine, and indian. I have been there several times and always thoroughly enjoyed everything they serve. it is an hours drive for me to get there, but looking forward to going there again

This restaurant has an excellent reputation I'm surprised there are other places rated higher in good old Margate. The Chef is up for an award as the Best in Kent up against the guy from Chapter One which boasts or had a Michelin star.....although good it ain't that! I digress, the Ambrette is fusion extremely well done. Theirs one restaurant... More

good flavoursome food...but a bit limited for the vegetarian. lovely aromatic twists on flavours. Not greeted on arrival quick enough , left to meander Service hurried, food plonked down even though they take time to run through the items on the plate...wine list whipped away from me when we ordered water..so I didn't order wine later as I was going... We had dinner her last night and it was really enjoyable. The staff are very welcoming, friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Between each dish they bring little tasty treats which were delicious. I had the red mullet start which was amazing. Fresh as anything and very nicely seasoned with lots of spices. I'd highly recommend the sea bream main.... More

Had a meal at the Ambrette a while ago and cannot believe all the hype! We were a party of four - my sister and parents - and I took them as a special treat as I had read amazing things about the place. Sadly none of us were impressed (and my dad was really ill afterwards)! We absolutely love... More

ianmanley.co.uk @ianmanley Call me lazy, but I never try to find out too much about a place before I go there, apart from the obvious basics of what type of food it does, and where it is. That’s not saying I turn up blind, but I do try to pick and choose restaurants on recommendation rather than extensive internet trawling.... More

This special gem in Margate, Kent specialises in Indian cuisine. It is so popular that it is almost necessary to book your table every day! As the food is cooked fresh for you, you won't be seated until they are ready to cook your meal. While seated at your table awaiting your first course to arrive an entree is served... More
