We went on a Saturday evening, were greeted by very friendly helpful staff and shown to our table. They made us feel at home. The menu was good especially the vegetarian options. My mother, 93, asked for and was given a lady (small) portion which she ate completely, the first time she has completed a meal for a while. The... More

We have had a busy year at work and wanted a stylish venue with nice food - the Turner was a great choice as the food was delicious, the service was excellent and we were made to feel wanted and welcome. I am not sure people realise the restaurant is open in the evenings on Friday and Saturdays. It was... More

This pleasant little cafe has the same stunning views over the sea that inspired the artist JMW Turner to paint here. The menu and prices are what you'd expect of a museum or gallery cafe, but while you can get a cheaper cup of tea and bun elsewhere, you won't get the same glorious views or the satisfaction of knowing... Although the Art gallery was not especially exciting, their cafe is very good. The food was reasonably priced. well prepared, and the menue, although not extensive, was well balanced with a good range of dishes including a childrens option. Service was friendly and efficient and the views across Margate bay were stunning despite the aweful weather. Mainly a lunch venue,... More

As an ex-Margatonian I wasn't sure what to expect from my return visit, especially to the new Turner gallery. Apart from the look of the gallery from outside - someone should be shot, I am afraid, though my father had a big part to play in starting this up! - the restaurant/cafe inside, with great Turnerian views west along the... My husband & I ordered an English breakfast which was then described on the bill as a Turner Hash? It transpired tobe an accurate description. A large quantity of cold halved new potatoes was served with tiny bits of overlooked, yet cold, mushroom, bacon and small bits of sausage, topped off by a fried duck egg.the bowlitcame in was also cold.... English magic was an excellent show and well worth the trip on a rainy day but I sorely regret staying for lunch. We were considering joining a family activity and as the weather was poor thought it best to eat in the gallery cafe. It was quite busy as it was half term but it was easy enough to find... More

Forget all your stereotypes of Margate. It has radically changed to include loads of interesting vintage shops and trendy cafes and the spectacular Turner gallery. The gallery puts on innovative modern artists, alongside Turners, as well as great workshops for kids. By day the cafe serves up great local food. By night it becomes a lovely restaurant with fabulous views... More
