Read's restaurant is located on the outskirts of Faversham in a beautiful Georgian manor house. Once our reservation was finally located (the only minor hiccup) all went swimmingly. The service was top notch. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. My roast Kentish lamb was melt in the mouth and the plum souffle was devine. Happy to... More

Taken by friends for celebration lunch. Good set menu, with a good set of options - could have chosen all of them. Good staff. D&S 8/14

We had a very nice set lunch and the price was good value. The bottle of wine and 2 pre lunch drinks upped it by quite a bit tho and we went for a standard wine nothing special. A pinot grigio...24.00 and 14.00 for small glass wine and a gin & tonic. Food and service v good but far too... More

We had a superb lunch here yesterday. The manor is beautiful and the attention to detail immaculate. We love the food and the relaxed unpretentiousness of the service. The staff are really first class. We have been eating at Read's since its Painters Forstall days and it never, ever lets us down. I am sure that the Michelin visitor last... More

A simply wonderful lunch. Set in a beautiful manor house, you immediately know that this will be a special place. The service was immaculate and the attention to detail by the waiters/waitresses and the sommelier was absolutely first rate. The food was just stunning. As good, if not better than many top restaurants in London. The mackerel terrine was delicious... More

Read's is faultless. From the moment you are greeted at the door, the extensive wine list, the little amuse bouche while you are waiting for your table, the unexpected starter, the meal itself with the seamless service of attentive staff. Just perfect. I had both lunch and dinner (greedy I know) and stayed there too as a treat to myself... More

I was most impressed when I visited Read's on my birthday in January, so I recommended it to my 3 very good, close friends. We have known each other for over 45 years, and we meet several times a year to play golf and petanque, and watch cricket and football. We had dinner and stayed overnight before going to Canterbury... More

Visited this restaurant last night for dunner. We have been here many times before but last night we a delighted as usual. It is situated in the most beautiful house and gardens. This is a well run establishment with well trained and helpful efficient staff. It is in the "fine dining" genre of eating out and lives up to this... More

Crisp white table cloths, excellent service and every attention to detail together with excellent food in delightful surroundings! Wednesday lunch and the place is full to the gunnells ! Why aren't there more places like Read's ? Tradtional fine dining with high standards and great food. I have not stayed here but understand the bedrooms are lovely too. Our lunch... More

I managed to secure a late booking. This was the best choice I have ever made! The setting was great the staff were very friendly and able to assist with everything that was requested. The chief was able to amend items on the menu as one of the party had a dairy intolerance. They were more than happy to assist... More
