Having heard about this place from the lovely and rather inspirational Stephanie, I was determined to give it at least a look! I can truly say, walking through the doors of this place was one of the best thing I have ever done! The head chef / owner Pieter is incredibly friendly, polite, well presented and extremely professional. Personally attentive... More

Found this little gem by chance on a cycle ride from Sandwich to Deal and it was lovely. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was amazing. We had a platter to share which was out of this world, loved every mouthful. Very reasonably priced too. We will definitely be back soon.

Ok this place was stumbled upon whilst cycling.. What a treasure it is!! On arrival I was simply after a coffee which I got plus a surprise lunch platter thrown together. It was an amazing mix of fresh food from goats cheese, salmon and much more. The food was exquisite and the owners were so hospitable. I would say this... More

Stumbled across this gem while enjoying a weekend on the coast, away from London. Deal is so lucky to have this fun, vibrant restaurant with the most delicious food! We stopped for lunch on Saturday, we could see the chef preparing various salads, tarts and breads and told him we would eat whatever he recommended, and we didn’t regret it!... More

We were a very mixed age and gender group and that in itself should have been a challenge, but it was'nt. The whole group had great fun and everyone was involved in producing their own soup and bread. The cooking was great fun and Pieter the Chef was very informative, giving us loads of useful tips. After the cooking session... More

17 family members and friends took part in a group cookery lesson early Saturday morning under the watchful and amused eye of Pieter. We laughed and joked and managed to make Tuscan bean soup and cheesy beer bread within one hour. Then we had the wonderful task of eating it all up for lunch. Great fun and effective bonding session!!... More

Went to the chequers with ten friends for dinner and had a mixed experience, the food was good but the way it was served left a lot to be desired and the portions were small. The starters were fine I had tortilla it was ok not amazing and not lots of it but quite tasty. All was good until the... More

This is an extraordinary place. The restaurant (in a former pub by Deal golf course on the back road to Sandwich) is also a cookery school and the tables are all in a large open plan room which is also a kitchen. You will be served by the chef himself and his delightful staff, and you can watch them prepare... More

We had two fabulous meals in Chequers restaurant. We were a large group of friends and family and everyone was more than happy with the delicious food, excellent selection of drinks and the friendly efficient service. I would highly recommend this place to anyone lucky enough to be in the Deal area. Cathy.
