great food, great service

Went in Saturday for the tasting menu, wonderful selection from starters to exceptional sea bass with scallops and chorizo, and the pistachio crust earl grey creme brulee was wonderful.

The Chequers is always a great experience. The food is excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. The demo and dine evenings are especially good fun and I always come away with a new recipe to try at home. The atmosphere is friendly and informal and it is possible to renew acquaintance with old friends and make new ones... More

My mother and I have been to the Chequers 3 times so far for lunch on Saturdays and have enjoyed each visit greatly. It is our favourite restaurant (my other one is the Ledbury!). Pieter is a wonderful host and chef. And we love having the surprise of what is in season and what he wants to cook. My mother... More

Found it by chance and stopped late for lunch. They came out to greet us and ask if we wanted to eat inside or our and then just gave us what they had. It was wonderful. If you trust a cook then eat what they give you - and you won,t be disappointed

Having heard about this place from the lovely and rather inspirational Stephanie, I was determined to give it at least a look! I can truly say, walking through the doors of this place was one of the best thing I have ever done! The head chef / owner Pieter is incredibly friendly, polite, well presented and extremely professional. Personally attentive... More

Found this little gem by chance on a cycle ride from Sandwich to Deal and it was lovely. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was amazing. We had a platter to share which was out of this world, loved every mouthful. Very reasonably priced too. We will definitely be back soon.

It was an amazing mix of fresh food from goats cheese, salmon and much more. The food was exquisite and the owners were so hospitable. I would say this... More
