Chequers Kitchen is a Cookery School and Restaurant. During the week and on Saturday mornings we teach all sorts of cookery classes, from Indian vegetarian to bread making, knife skills to cookery for beginners. All are welcome and we try to vary times and duration to make our classes as accessible as possible. Our restaurant opens on Saturdays and Sundays and features free-range chicken cooked in our French rotisserie oven along with fresh, flavoursome, interesting dishes, fabulous salads and more.

delicious food, lovely dining room and friendly staff

My mother and I have been to the Chequers 3 times so far for lunch on Saturdays and have enjoyed each visit greatly. It is our favourite restaurant (my other one is the Ledbury!). Pieter is a wonderful host and chef. And we love having the surprise of what is in season and what he wants to cook. My... read more

We stumbled across this place whilst on a coastal walk last Saturday and were pleasantly surprised. This place is a real gem , we ate what they served us on a big sharing platter , an assortment of the most amazing dishes , each and every one fabulous , made in front of us from local ingredients wherever possible. We... More

Found it by chance and stopped late for lunch. They came out to greet us and ask if we wanted to eat inside or our and then just gave us what they had. It was wonderful. If you trust a cook then eat what they give you - and you won,t be disappointed

Having heard about this place from the lovely and rather inspirational Stephanie, I was determined to give it at least a look! I can truly say, walking through the doors of this place was one of the best thing I have ever done! The head chef / owner Pieter is incredibly friendly, polite, well presented and extremely professional. Personally attentive... More

Found this little gem by chance on a cycle ride from Sandwich to Deal and it was lovely. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was amazing. We had a platter to share which was out of this world, loved every mouthful. Very reasonably priced too. We will definitely be back soon.

Ok this place was stumbled upon whilst cycling.. What a treasure it is!! On arrival I was simply after a coffee which I got plus a surprise lunch platter thrown together. It was an amazing mix of fresh food from goats cheese, salmon and much more. The food was exquisite and the owners were so hospitable. I would say this... More

Stumbled across this gem while enjoying a weekend on the coast, away from London. Deal is so lucky to have this fun, vibrant restaurant with the most delicious food! We stopped for lunch on Saturday, we could see the chef preparing various salads, tarts and breads and told him we would eat whatever he recommended, and we didn’t regret it!... More

We were a very mixed age and gender group and that in itself should have been a challenge, but it was'nt. The whole group had great fun and everyone was involved in producing their own soup and bread. The cooking was great fun and Pieter the Chef was very informative, giving us loads of useful tips. After the cooking session... More

17 family members and friends took part in a group cookery lesson early Saturday morning under the watchful and amused eye of Pieter. We laughed and joked and managed to make Tuscan bean soup and cheesy beer bread within one hour. Then we had the wonderful task of eating it all up for lunch. Great fun and effective bonding session!!... More
