We decided to have lunch at the West House as a previous visit was exemplary. Menu wasn't as straightforward, simple or focused as previously. It felt as if Chef was trying too hard to impress. Good food doesn't need over complication to impress. We expect to have good produce cooked to a high standard in a restaurant of this ilk.... More

Went for my mum's birthday. Well- what can you say about Graham Garrett's cooking without exhausting one's stock of superlatives?! Starters of crayfish risotto and chicken wing with crab delighted as did mains of duck, lamb and pork. No self-indulgent display of empty/mismatched flavours here but just beautiful ingredients, perfectly cooked. Desserts, which included a type of deconstructed apple crumble and... More

Lovely lunch from the £25 menu. Two choices of starter, main and desert. Great canapés and bread to start with home-made butter. Everything beautifully presented with unusual ingredients and very tasty combinations. Service relaxed and welcoming. Will be going back.

Not having eaten in a Michelin star restaurant before, I wasn't sure what to expect. However, all expectations were indeed exceeded and challenged. This is a small family run restaurant, set in the heart of a Kentish village. The interior is rustic, clean, and inviting. We had requested a vegetarian/fish tasting menu, and when we got there, they instantly knew... More

I came here with my husband as part of our one night mini-moon, the week after we got married. DInner here really was delightful, we thoroughly enjoyed the way the staff were so relaxed, nothing was a problem. The bread was delicious, and served with some sort of fat, instead of butter (can't remember the name!) and it tasted gorgeous!... More

Visited this wonderful restaurant this week to celebrate my Aunt and Uncle's Emerald Wedding Anniversary. We are foodies and were not disappointed. Excellent quality food coupled with friendly efficient service. The wine list is of a very high quality and caters for all tastes at competitive prices. Their bread in a warming sack is a nice idea and the complementary... More

Set in a lovely old building in a picture post card town, the West House has held its French Type award for more than a decade now for good reason. Lots of exposed beams and wiring. It's a family run affair, with none of the pretensions you might expect. Chef Graham Garret certainly knows his stuff. The cod and belly... More

We got lost trying to find Biddenden and arrived half an hour late for our booking, but there were no recriminations and we were made most welcome. I should say we almost swerved this restaurant because they have foie gras on the menu and I normally steer clear of restaurants which accept cruelty as part of food production. The Michelin... More

We use good restaurants but this was our first Michelin experience. We dressed up as it was a special occasion, as did some others but one man wore jeans & shirt, we found the atmosphere welcoming & relaxed. We asked for advice re wine choice & were pleased with the recommendation (not the most expensive), it did pair well with... More

My wife and I ate at West House this week - I have to say it's right up there as one of the very best meals I've had. A lot of though has gone into the food, it's served in measured portion sizes with tremendous flavour and presentation. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and the overall experience top notch... More
