Best sort of surprise

A pretty but un-assuming exterior hides an extra-ordinary find. I love my desserts so I started with the dessert menu - good range. Took the locals advice on dessert and planned for the sticky toffee pudding. It was sublime. We hadn't booked and arrived around 12.15 on a Sat and there were... read more

The 3 Chimneys has been a popular drinking/dining/socialising spot for the 30 years that we have known it. It has grown from a small smoky selection of bars to include enlarged dining areas, one of which is a conservatory with character. Food is "good pub quality", a good selection of beers maintains the original raison d'etre of the hostelry and... More

If you want to eat here at a weekend, then book and go earlier rather than late if you want to find a place in the car park, without waiting. First time I'd eaten here and from others opinions I was expecting a great meal and perhaps because of that I was disappointed. The pub was full, atmosphere with the... More

This was our first visit - have passed by many times and said "We must try that pub one day". Sunday lunchtime it was packed so we booked for Sunday evening and had a pre dinner drink in the little bar at the end, which was lovely - like stepping back in time. Low lighting and a lovely log fire.... More

Went here with a friend for lunch. We sat by a log fire really cosey on a cold day. The menu was filled with many temptations and lots of vegetarian choices. The service was really good the staff all very friendly and polite. We didnt have to wait long for our meal considering they were quite busy for a Monday.... More

Wnet yesterday for lunch. It was cosy and there was a big wood burning stove alight. One had a starter and I had a main course with a side salad. The food was delightful and tasy and the service , friendly and good. I heartily recommend this gastro pub. It is often necessary to book before to avoid disappointment.

Had our first visit to the pub with a table for four on Sat 21st Feb being my wife's birthday. Food very good, service very friendly although a bit slow the place was full so no problem, I don't have a problem with that. It's nice to dine in a real pub and not a gastro pub that charge a... More

We had a great night at the Chimneys, the dinning area is charming olde-worlde,but all original! We had the Rump of Lamb, cooked to perfection, the service was very good, all in all you could not fault it.But you must book a table at the weekends as it gets busy!

We popped in today for a quick, impromptu lunch and both had a mixed cheese ploughmans. Cheddar, Brie & a ripe 'ol Stilton (yum) with homemade chutney, pickled onions and a fresh and crunchy pile of salad. The only minor grumble was that this was served with just two, 1inch slices of French stick. Predictably, we ran out of bread and... More

Lovely lunch last week, large portions, excellent roast dinner for me, and fish for a friend. followed by coffee. no room for cheese and biscuits, or a desserts. very friendly, trendy eatery but it was a bit too hot as it was a sunny day and they had a roaring fire. The restaurant was full even though it was a... More
