Thought we'd give this a try as it was nearby to where we were staying although had low expectation of food given other reviews. The place is a bit shabby (in my opinion would benefit from modernising) but the front of house was very friendly. Placed our food order and sat in a decking area with our drinks. Great views... We decided to pop in here here when we needed something to eat after visiting nearby Fort Victoria. It doesn't look much from the road but the view from the other side must be one of the best on the Island, you literally sit feet from the beach and can see right across the Solent. We decided on burger and chips and... More

We had two fresh crab sandwiches and a creases sandwich all three for less than £8 each. The bread was nice and fresh and the food was great for a light lunch, served outside by two very friendly member if staff. The coffee was good too. I can't comment on the loos or the inside or main meals as spent... More

When the previous owners Charlotte and Mike ran the Boathouse we went often, taking friends, enjoying the Curry Nights , fabulous Sunday lunches and 25 of us celebrating my partners 60th birthday. It was super. Last year I took a friend for her birthday, I was saddened by the changes the new folk had made. Tatty décor, hideous curtains, gone... More

everything we had was terrible - frozen and badly fried or wrongly prepared. The crab salad bearing in mind how close the restaurant is to the best crab town on the island was more than likely frozen and served covered in paprika. The salad leaves were dripping in a very strong sauce totally unsuitable to accompany crab, the cole slaw... More

We visited Isle of wight on 15-17.3 and decided to have lunch at this place on the first day. The location is amazing, at summer this place must be very busy. Staff was very nice but ordering was very confusing on paying etc. We were allowed to have a small breakfast as our lunch which was very nice. Chocolate brownie... More

We were so keen on this place, we live near by. The first time we went was summer, just for sandwiches on deck. It was satisfactory, with sun out etc. Then we tried Sunday lunch. Sadly we didnt want pork, there was nothing else! My daughter is veggie, nothing possible, so we walked. Its a shame they choose to charge... More

I live on the island, and each time we have family down to stay, we head there for lunch. Having had such a wonderful summer, the location is ideal...great for the kids to play on the beach after they've eaten, leaving the grown ups to finish at leisure. They are now open in the winter, with a lovely wood burner,... More

We took some friends here for an evening meal, sunset and good food. We were disappointed with the evening menu (it would be OK as a cafe lunch menu). Much of the food appeared to be frozen (Brake Bros type) re-heated. The staff appeared to be learning on the job and a little forgetful - though very friendly and wanting... More

Some friends recommended this pub after visiting earlier in the year and it was well worth a visit. Situated almost on the beach it has a contempory interior and a limited but lovely menu. The staff were great and the wine was perfect. Lovely evening and thorough recommended.
