This is one of the best meals we have had out. Lovely building, not too hot, background music not intrusive, tables not crammed together, relaxed friendly service.Be aware this is on the first floor - I didn't notice a lift. It was midweek, out of season, and we ate early so there were no other diners for most of the... More

Went to the Forrester's after seeing rave reviews on this website. Their own website states open 7 days a week, went to book and it was closed and then turned up in the evening and still closed. Thankfully for us the Wheatsheaf Inn was open and did amazing food.

Tempting menu, excellent friendly service. We had delicious gnocchi, the lamb and belly pork with crispy crackling and rhubarb crime brûlée. All delicious visiting Yarmouth and would definitely recommend to others

Having lived in Freshwater for 3 years I really don't know why I have been here before. Went tonight for my birthday, the whole experience was great. I had crab bisque envy- cos I didn't have it- although I tasted my wife's. The main courses were brilliant with a great selection of roast and freshly cooked veg. The rhubarb and... More

We have been there for one of my friend's birthday, it was 20 of us, so all of tables were booked for us; there was a nice piano; the building was ancient and beautiful; Foods were between the best quality food I have tried, specially lamb, although the portions were a bit small! The staffs were really helpful; Even they... More

What a lovely setting, the staff and owners could not have made us more welcome than they did. The food was absolutely spot on. Five of us had starters, mains and deserts and thoroughly enjoyed everything and what a lovely ambience. The best pheasant I have ever tasted. We will be back....

Lovely, warm welcome and service. Unusual setting as the restaurant is in the upper part of a former boat-builders that was a Forresters meeting house in a previous incarnation. The food was very good with large portions. Reasonable price/quality wine list. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Will definitely go again.

My husband and I ended up walk into the Forrester in a last minute attempt to find a dinner on the 31st December 2013. We booked a last minute trip to the IOW but did not book any restaurant. So, after we had tried almost every other place in Yarmouth and all of them had given us the same answer... More
