Good customer care

The Boat House is nicely laid out and decorated. Depending on where you sit there maybe some steps to negotiate, only a problem if like my mother you're not as steady on your pins as you once were. The specials board was very tempting with a good selection of seafood and puddings. I went for... read more

We booked ahead, making a special trip from Whitwell to get the best table for our friends from the mainland for a special occasion. We have been many times before so thought we were on to a safe bet. Very disappointed - easily our worst visit. Disinterested, rushed service. No welcome, no goodbye, no interest in us in between. Bar... More

The food here has always been excellent and the deserts are amazing. Dog friendly in the bar area. The staff are always lovely and friendly. Great music outside in the summer months. One of out favourites on the island :-)

My wife and I had lunch here today, and we both had sea food risotto. What a wonderful meal , full of lobster, muscles and every kind of seafood you could want, along with fresh brown bread and a pint to wash it down! Finished off with a warm chocolate brownie and ice cream, and a cup of coffee. Who... More

We called in at the boathouse for a light lunch, having not been there before, or at least not since it had changed hands. We both had smaller portions as we were not wanting a heavy meal. The staff were charming and the food was very good, such that when we spotted the out of season offer for two three... More

We are local to the area and know this restaurant as always being able to serve good food. We were not disappointed. Excellent simple main courses and the most perfect chocolate mousse. Plenty of space inside and out, very helpful staff and easy parking. The constant pop music played was not so charming.

Not as good as we had imagined. Fish and chips was only reasonable for the price tag of £11.95. Chips were overcooked and fatty. The plaice wasn't that tasty. The Tagliatelle large portion was not as large as expected and the bread wasn't homemade as described. Nice venue and mostly friendly staff.

We have been to the Boat house on many occasions which is why we booked again. We took my father in law and my daughter plus her 2 children. The kids had sausage and chips but sausage was well over cooked, poss reheated in microwaved for too long because they were hard. 2 of our party had blackened chicken which... More

Over the winter, this restaurant and a couple of others in the same group offer two for one dining, a three course meal for £19,95 and good wines for £10 a bottle. There were four choices on each course. I enjoyed my starter of tempura chicken, my main meal, pork loin medallion, was overcooked but sauce lovely. Fresh vegetables were... More

Found the boathouse by chance & popped in for lunch on a sunny day. Good soup and fresh I.O.W crab sandwich with a lovely view over the Solent. Friendly, efficient staff and very clean and well kept everywhere - a good find.
