brilliant quirky pub with excellent italian food

Very unusual pub .you need to eat in the bar area which is small very old fashioned and seats maybe twenty people. We had spaghetti bolonese, lasange, and fillet steak all of which where excellent and although not cheap were good value for money . I strongly recommend the house red wine which was... read more

We're on holiday and we book a different pub for each night to dine. We have holidayed here on the IOW for the third year running and have been in approximately 30 pubs of all shapes and sizes. I must say, this one strikes me as one of the best if not the best. It's a family run business, which... More

our table was booked for 8pm for 4 people, we arrived early and ordered our drinks. They were very busy and after ordering our meals we waited and waited. They did apologise and brought us garlic bread and more drinks.,over an hour later our meals arrived.,they were delicious but we had lost our appetites because we waited too long.,Think they need to... Enjoyed a delicious meal, we had lasagne & a Margherita pizza with olives. Pleased we booked as the main bar was full of diners & drinkers. The staff were all friendly & helpful. Love the olde worlde charm of this former coaching inn.

Arrived for lunch on a glorious sunny day. We'd noted from a few recent reviews that booking was prudent. Sure enough the place was busy - in a good way - but we noticed they successfully squeezed in another couple who hadn't been so cautious. We were quickly ushered to our seats outside in the pretty cobbled courtyard and were... More

We've been here a few times over the years but something seems to be a bit missing. In the past we've enjoyed excellent Italian food and real ale but to be honest was all a bit average. I've cooked better spaghetti carbonara myself and the real ale was not in the best if condition - added to that we were... More

As we were staying in Bonchurch, the Inn seemed like a promising place to have a meal. But our promises were not fulfilled and the visit was very disappointing. Firstly, the place was teeming with people - we had to wait ages to get a seat (though perhaps we should have booked) and so we waited in the bar, which... More

Our dinner was blighted by noisy, ill-disciplined children. Running around without any parental guidance for acceptable manners. Ironically, the place is owned by Anglo Italians. This behaviour would never be found in Italy, let alone tolerated. Evening spoiled, a great shame as the staff were charming and the food up to standard. I recommend NEVER to go during school holidays,... More

We went here for lunch based on good reviews on a Trip Advisor but were disappointed with the food. The children's chicken nuggets were good, but the crab sandwich and Adrian's Special Pizza were both not up to the standard we had expected, and the garlic bread was burnt. It's a quirky place especially in that the toilets are outside... More

Very average- although busy we were squashed into a tiny eating area which was rather dark. Nobody offered us another eating area but clearly there were others. The food was very average and the salad limp.
