Yesterday I had lunch and a pint with a friend at the Half Moon and it was really excellent. The pub is a charming building in a charming village. It has a very pleasant bar area and good tables if you want a meal, and there is ample outside seating if the weather is fine. The menu is quite big... More

We visited this pub after an early evening walk around the nearby Wilstone Reservoir. We were a large group so we had pre-ordered our food - and this small, traditional country pub coped very well with our "invasion". Everyone arrived at the pub looking forward to our food - and we were not disappointed - excellent pies, chilli, Thai chicken... More

Visited the Half Moon again on Sunday17 August and again an excellent family experience. Customer service was top notch as was my meal, the Cheese and Pepperd Mushroom Pie was a delight to eat even though it was brought in but as the Landlady mentioned the pies are of such a high standard why use her time making her own.The chips... Had a good lunch here recently. Value for money and the best chips I've had a for while! A decent pint of Doombar and relaxing, old style pub surroundings. A good choice of local walks to boot!

Wow......what can I say. 5 of us went for lunch and the portions were huge but so cheap. I had ham, 2 eggs and chips. The ham was thick and off the bone and loads of it, 2 lovely fresh fried eggs and gorgeous homemade chips. Unfortunately I couldn't finish it all!!!! My husband and son had scampi, chips and... More

Visited today, not for the first time and I am pleased the present Landlady and Landlord have not made too many changes in order to put their mark on the place. I selected the Three cheese pie with chips and peas and it was superb but the star of my meal was the Sticky Toffee Pudding and Custard,I recommend this to... More

Under current and previous ownership, I have never had a bad meal here in 10 years. It's cheap, yes. Unpretentious, yes. But always wonderfully good value for money and enjoyable. Great beer and simple food. My mother, who has struck off most eating houses in West Surrey and North East Hampshire, asks to go here when she visits. Praise indeed.... More

I went to this pub with a friend on a Tuesday lunchtime, and was surprised by the number of people eating lunches. The pub is a lovely old fashioned place, with beams and low ceilings. There were 3 good, well kept real ales, with a very friendly landlord and lady. The menu was typical local pub fare, with a reasonable... More

The Half Moon is a small and friendly pub in Wilstone, a few miles from Tring. I went for a meal on a Saturday lunchtime. The service was quick, the food was very good (well above the usual pub fare) and the staff were friendly. The portions were good sized and their chips are really good, they appear to go... More

Had Sunday Lunch in the Garden. Food was excellent as was the service. Shame no B & B as we would love to stay locally when visiting family. Well done to the new management.
