Fantastic pub - well worth the visit!

If only all village pubs were as traditional and friendly as this one. Sunday cavery for large family was excellent and good value - the veggies are cooked to order so no soggy overcooked veg here! Childrens portions good or they can order off the ordinary menu. Puddings home cooked or ice cream if you prefer. Dogs welcome, children welcome... More

Our first visit from our walking group and what a warm reception. Dogs welcome at this warm and cosy pub with a roaring fire inside a large fireplace. The busy landlady cal my took our orders in what was already a busy restaurant. Good freshly cooked food came quickly and staff were attentive and felt like a customer...a rare feeling... More

Staying in the area for a week with our two greyhounds and was told about this pub by one of the locals we met in another village. Went there today for lunch without booking and was fortunate enough to find a table in a room called the 19th hole. The hospitality and welcome was fantastic, the food was great pub... More

The Half Moon is a small, traditional dog-friendly village pub, with a very friendly landlady (and landlord, although he's busy cooking and serving the carvery), who have been there a little over 2 years (so ignore the bad review from before they got there!). Real ale consists of regulars Doombar and Tring Brewery's Side Pocket, and current guest ale XT4... More

Stopped for dinner mid-week. A very traditional pub, apparently busy with regulars and a number of the tables already reserved, which I took to be a good sign. A nice variety of food on offer and some specials on the board. Friendly welcome at the bar. Food was good, freshly prepared good portions, with reasonable prices. Decided to stay for... More

We were 3/4s completing a walk at 2.45 on Sunday, so admittedly, it was tight for lunch - we arrived into the pub and picked up a menu - as I had a look I heard in a gruff voice - Kitchen closes at 3! Went out got rest of party and all ordered - lots of throwing down pad... More

My wife and I visited this lovely village pub mid way through a walk around Marsworth reservoirs, I have to say the food was very good as was the hospitality.

An attractive, cosy, traditional-looking pub. I sat in the pleasant back garden - a good place to relax with perhaps four or five large tables - reading their newspapers. Two gentle dogs wandered around the garden. I had a ploughman's, which was fine. The best thing, though, was the welcoming atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and made me feel welcome.... More

We came by chance having picked an evening where all our local restaurants were busy. We are so pleased we found The Half Moon and will definitely be coming back.
