NIce Pub

Nice atmosphere, clean, good old fashioned pub. Bit of a haven to go to at lunchtime during the working week. Go at least once most weeks. Friendly staff. If I lived locally I would certainly make it my local!

Not had a Sunday lunch for ages, decided to try said pub above, not the best I've had. 2 slices of thin beef over cooked, 2 small roast potatoes, little veg, but what made it different was just to much gravy to the point it covered the inner rim of the plate, my peas were doing the front crawl, and... I wanted something local as my friend only had an hour for lunch as she was working, I did try to find a menu on-line but I couldn't get into their site so I phoned them and they very kindly emailed me one, which made it easier to decide if the food was suitable to cook in about 15 minutes,... We had another lovely meal with our children in this pub. The roasts were delicious plenty of vegetables and choice of meats. Though my husband and son did say the potatoes were a bit too hard. I had the thai curry again and again it was amazing! The boys loved the sticky toffee pud with custard. Staff were polite and... More

Went for lunch with my daughter, my friend and her children. Very noisy family in the corner with 6 kids, was getting ready to up and leave but then they went into the garden,so decided to stay and have lunch. Service was very good, lovely lass behind the bar. Only disappointment was my food. Had vegetable quiche with dauphinoise potatoes and salad.... More

We visited this pub for a birthday party with friends and family. The staff were very accommodating and the food was great! The pub has a huge garden, and on rainy days there's enough space indoors to accommodate. I Highly recommend the locally brewed "A Side Pocket for a Toad" ale, which is served on tap.

We went to the Black Horse after some of our group finished a long charity walk at the nearby Ivinghoe Beacon. Our advance booking was politely taken in advance and from arrival our group couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. Everyone, staff and customers, were very friendly. Staff seemed genuinely interested to hear about some of the groups... More

Stopped here after a walk in the chilterns for some lunch, i wished i hadn't. It took ages to get served, the staff didn't seem to care that we'd been waiting quite some time. when our food arrived it could at best be described as distinctly average. The burger was cold and the kids food looked like it had be... More
