Love this pub, great location next to the Grand Union, good beer, good food and relaxing atmosphere.
Fantastic weather so we headed to the Grand Junction Arms to meet friends. Bit of a mistake, very busy and they could not cope. Waited an hour to order food and drinks. Then waited another before eating. Burgers were excellent but my wifes salad seemed to be made of the leftovers, limp and no dressing. Would have stayed longer but...

heard a lot about the food, which was fair, although colleagues steak was sublime. it lacked atmosphere and real comfort, which is a shame, as on the grand union canal, the dining areas could be made to feel more welcoming and conducive to relaxed eating experience
This is a lovely pub in a fab location next to the Grand Union Canal with a pretty garden with a climbing frame for children. I have two comments or constructive comments for the management in relation to my recent visits:
Firstly with a pub with a garden with climbing frame then you will attract families and yet the menu...

Decided to go to the GJA for lunch and certainly wasn't disappointed. I had fish cake topped with a ducks egg that was cooked to perfection for a starter. For main myself and wife both had steak burger with chips and side relish. Absolutely fantastic and reasonable priced. Good atmosphere both inside and out with friendly and attentive staff. Will...

Stopped off for a drink on my walk along the canal and was tempted by the specials board. I chose the lambs liver with parsnip puree, grilled beef tomatoes and watercress. This was cooked to perfection and was a great choice. It was a glorious sunny day and lovely to sit in the beautifully landscaped gardens beside the canal. Highly...

It was nice to meet a great team with excellent service. The manager even said he would pay for our meals if we didn't think they were excellent. He clearly had no concern as the food was as good as he said it would be.
The venue is a great spot to go for a walk down the canal, which...

Allegedly the chef at the Grand Junction Arms trained up Heston Blumental and it shows in the overall presentation and inventiveness of the food here.
We had one hi-cup with a starter which was supposed to be a goats cheese mouse but was more 3 small balls of goats cheese, which to be fair if you are going to serve...

On a Sunday afternoon I queued for 15 minutes for drinks. Two people were serving. I also ordered a portion of chips to be served outside. I waited approx. 40 minutes and was served 9 chips in a small bowl costing £3.00. Not worth the wait...not reasonable value and not good service.
Spur of the moment last summer, decided to drive out and find a pub by a river/canal, for an early dinner.
We were not at all disappointed, the place was very busy, and there was a short wait for food, but it was well worth the wait.
Beautiful setting by the canal, but fenced so it was safe for the...
