We visited for a light lunch. We sat outside on a lovely sunny day which was delightful. Unfortunately after ordering our food we had a long wait for it to arrive, so long that we had long finished our drinks. The food was average at best and, in my opinion, well overpriced. The portion sizes were very small and the... More

we visited on a Friday lunchtime. This was our second visit and was very happy the first time around. But was very dissapointed with the service as the waiting staff seemed as if they just didn't want to be there, We had a drink when we got there and whilst having our starter we ordered a bottle of wine to... "We've run out of wine glasses" - never heard of this before, especially in an only averagely busy place. We were given wine in a G&T-type tumbler which was still warm from the dishwasher. The food was above average good but the service was poor - mainly because they appeared to be under staffed. Apart from one person, all the... More

We had a lovely visit, sitting in the sunshine by the canal and having dinner indoors later on. Plus we had a good game of chess.

The pub itself is nice for a drink but I won't ever eat food there again. I ordered fish and chips which was quite pricey and some of the chips were still frozen and the fish was gross.

I am so sorry you felt the need to leave such a negative review about your fish & chips on your last visit. This is one of our most popular dishes and is usually very well received by our regular customers. I am a little confused regarding your comment about some of your chips still being frozen as we do... More

asked for a glass of Prosecco, given a small bottle which amounted to a glass and charged almost £8.00 and told that they don't sell it by the glass. First pub I have ever been in that doesn't sell it by the glass. Exploitation. I wonder how many times they've pulled that one.

I'm so sorry you felt the need to leave such negative feedback concerning your visit. We stopped selling prosecco by the glass some time ago as large bottles were constantly going flat and so now we sell 20cl and 75cl bottles (small & large) which seem to be a much better option for our customers. I'm not aware of any... More

We have been visiting this pub from time to time over the last 10 years. The food has varied in quality over that time but has usually been good value and reasonable quality. However last week on a very warm evening we had a really poor dinner - Baked camembert was cold and grainy with toasted mothers pride (on the... More

I've been travelling the waterways for over 2 months and have eaten out most nights (my fridge broke down). My dinner here has to have been the best I've experienced so far. Very friendly and attentive service, and wonderful modern food that you could tell has the signature of a very talented Head Chef, at reasonable prices. Thank you!
