A good experience

Met our son and family at this canal side location.ordered drinks and food and sat outside in superb garden. They state on the menu that food is cooked to order so I cannot understand people complaining about speed of service. Deal with it! If you want instant go to McDonald's. 4 main meals 1... read more

What a little find this place was. Food freshly prepared and service with a smile. Highly recommend this pub. We stopped in for lunch on three occasions now and the food is all prepared fresh. This place is a little treasure and does offer a specials board too. Give it a look.

The food here is decent as we've been quite a few times. But you'll often wait an unacceptably long time. Second time we've waited an hour!!!! Unbelievable. Don't bother. No warning. No apology. Disgraceful.

I'm so sorry you felt the need to leave such a negative review, and please accept my apologies for your long delay in receiving your lunch. We were trying to advice all our guests on this day the wait time was increasing however we were simply overwhelmed by the amount of business coming through the doors; two days worth of... More

Came here from the disaster of the Robin Hood in Tring on Xmas Festival night. Brilliant place, lovely atmosphere. Well done! Growing up in the area, we were stunned at what you have done with this place. Great credit to the owners.

We visited this pub mostly for the great family facilities as large garden with lots of play equipment. What we didn't expect, was the exceptionally good food. Some of the best pub food we have ever had! Mushroom risotto was particularly good but fish and chips also perfect. Will most definitely be back.

Great place to drop in at any time of the year. Always a warm welcome and good food and well kept beers. Big garden overlooking the canal with a cellar bar into the garden in the summer.

Went to the GJ for the first time on a Sunday, having had quite a few nice weekday meals before. Not often you find this good roast beef and pork, with perfect roast spuds and veg accompaniments. Excellent. Will be back asap.

Visited for early lunch. Very fresh and tasty food served promptly. Friendly staff, who made us feel at home. Ate indoors as rather breezy and cool outside in late September but great location by canalside with plenty of narrow boats. Can be very busy especially at weekends so well worth eating early. Definitely recommend the fish and chips - superb.

A good location with decent parking by the canal. Nice staff, although, they insisted on calling us 'guys' ~ ok by me but 85 year old father in law wasn't impressed. Beer fine. But the food was, at best, mediocre for three of our party of four. One meal, chicken breast stuffed with feta, was really enjoyed by one member... More

Visited today for a quick bite to eat and ordered a cheese and tomato pickle sandwich, which wasn't exactly cheap. When the sandwich arrived it looked nicely presented but l was disappointed after taking a bite of the sandwich to find the bread was stale and seemed to me to be one of those long life cheap loaves. The cheese... More
