My partner and I visited the Akeman several days ago for a mid-week treat, and I can safely say that they excelled themselves. Great steaks, great sides, an excellent range of beers, and the tastiest glass of Malbec my girlfriend said she's ever had. The desserts, too were fantastic. Despite being quite busy for a Thursday evening, the staff never... More

Met with family Friday for late lunch, got there early and luckily able to park right outside. Don't know how log this place has been open, but is looking decidedly grubby around the edges a little work needed. No reservation, but no problem fitting us in so while we waited we had a tea and a coffee (very reasonable, cheaper... More

Had a meal with friends last night and we went back to the Akeman in Tring, well the service was good the food was not as good at it used to be, one of our steaks was cremated another meal was swimming it gravy, one pudding was inedible. On the whole not the best meal we have had out recently.... More

After not visiting the Akeman for over a year i was shocked at how badly it has gone downhill. Starter was awful more fat then meat, all of our mains were cold, steaks not cooked properly and burger buns so thin worse then tesco value, everytime i ordered a drink i had to ask again 20 mins later, everything as so... Thursday night two for one cocktails. Great value, place very busy as a result and this gave a buzzy vibe atmosphere to the evening. ITS A MUST TO TRY!

I've been very tolerant with this place, having gone back and given them several second chances but the repetitively bad experiences mean that I have now run out of patience and tolerance. I went there for a lunch last autumn and had to fight my way through a crowd of mothers and toddlers who had commandeered the comfy seats near... More

Living locally I have wanted to visit the Akeman for some time but was hugely disappointed by my visit with family for Sunday lunch. We waited with two very young children for nearly an hour before any food was served, despite having prebooked for 12pm and the restaurant being fairly empty when we first arrived. The "roast" beef .dinner was infact... More

This restaurant was the first really smart restaurant in Tring - and it's also friendly and has good food and a great atmosphere. Part of it is also a local and a cafe. It set the bar high and has maintained its standards. Definitely our first choice.

The staff were all friendly on our last visit, however it was sometimes difficult to get anyone's attention. For example, they didn't offer more drinks when our food came. The food was really nice and a reasonable price. The atmosphere in the restaurant had quite a buzz. Would certainly go back.
