Lull after the storm

When we visited here, quite clearly they had been very busy. That in itself shouldn't have come as a surprise as they are located on a village green, and it was a lovely Easter bank holiday... But it was evident they weren't prepared. Having said that when we got a table the food and service was... read more

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 4 nights and were pleasantly surprised, the room was plenty big enough for the two of us with all the essentials kettle, ironing board etc. The bed was large however did look like two singles strapped together, my side was harder and newer compared to his side which was very low down and... Food was excellent service was good but I felt once our plates had been cleared it was a long time before our order for deserts was taken. An observation, was floor movement, ever time a person passed by our table you can feel the floor move not vibrate but moved.

Stayed here for one night on business. Great location. Bar and restaurant very busy, staff really attentive and room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Represents good value for money and preferable to the big chain hotels in Watford.

We came here for 2 nights. We were in the area for a Wedding. We booked a family room which had a very big bed and a double sofa bed for my son. We were all More than comfortable. The hotel is very old and the surrounding views are stunning. We are in the restaurant on the Friday night and... More

Booked a table for 1 pm. Not greeted on arrival but simply told (without apology or explanation)that lunch had a 45 minute delay. Generally felt like we were an inconvenience. I ordered the surf & turf at £22 which was not rare as requested and consisted of one inedible rubbery prawn. Chips and onion rings poor, presentation dreadful. On the... More

I have written reviews on the Two Brewers before. It is like most restaurants, it has good times and bad times and, as I have been going there on a regular basis for at least twenty years, I have experienced both scenarios. Today though was an absolute show-stopper. Imagine a picturesque old country inn, sited opposite a lovely common and... More

Have eaten at the Two Brewers many times including Boxing Day and Valentine's Day as a couple and with up to 10 friends. Always enjoyed the food, ambience and location but have to admit that they went through a bit of a sticky time with sporadic slow service although the new manager has sorted that now. The staff are always... More

Firstly, what a beautiful location! I felt like we were going to a little village pub it was so nice. The pub itself is quite big and the interior is really nice and warming. We had the Camembert to start which was lovely and then seabass and scallop risotto which was just fantastic. Not your typical pub grub! Service was... More

I have not stayed in the hotel, but have visited several times for meals in various size groups. I have been in a group of 10 a few days before the latest visit and the service was absolutely terrible! They served up mash when chips had been ordered and did not notice that they had not made a note of... More
