For many years we loved the old Cochin, and to not quite so great an extent when it morphed into the Pepper Hut. Now the chef from the original Cochin has returned under new management - bringing the best Keralan food you will find outside Kerala.

This is an unusual restaurant in as far as it is region specific and therefore a great find. The South Indian food is truly wonderful and so incredibly tasty. I always enjoy the prawn dishes as these are prepared so well. But whatever you choose you will not be disappointed. Take a chance on something different and give this restaurant... More

Love the food here very Southern Indian. Variety of excellent fish dishes and beetroot curry is excellent. Had in Mumbai and it tastes the same

Turned up on spec' the other day for a meal but found the place closed. A notice has subsequently appeared on the door saying that a new South Indian restaurant will be opening soon. If the new restaurant is only half as good as the old one I will be eating there as the Pepper Hut was excellent.

We eat here often as we have found this to be one of the better quality restaurants in HH. Staff excellent, attentive without being over the top and the Masala Dhosa is one of the best we have come across. Would highly recommend.

Small restaurant in the old High Street. Still has some Kerala style dishes on the menu, though most of it is taken up with standard Anglo-Indian fare. The Masala Dosa was quite good, though too bland; the rest of the party liked the Beet Cheera Pachidy, which was new to them, but have had much better. Best item was a... More

Pretty awful food! We used to go there regularly when it was called Cochin and the food used to be great! This time the food quality was extremely poor - even the sainsbury chicken tikka masala is anyway 100 times better than the chicken curry you get here. The Biriyani is a disgrace - not sure the chef even knows... More

This used to be called The Cochin not sure why the name was changed but the menu is very similar. Lots of fish curry dishes which is unusual. We had a fabulous meal and what really made the evening was how genuinely nice waiters were. They have a decoration on the wall which caused some discussion at our table and... More

I went to this restaurant in Old Hemel last Saturday, I have been to this restaurant many times before and have always enjoyed the food. It used to be completely different from other Indian Restaurants as they specialised in Kerala food. They have had to change the menu to cope with the static British taste for the type of dishes... Best curry we have had in ages. The choice was excellent - loads of unusual dishes. The food was really tasty and not full of fat like so many curries. Excellent and will be back soon.
