Good food, let down by very slow service.

We went to this restaurant on a Saturday night for a family birthday celebration. It is situated in the one nice street of Hemel Hempstead opposite where they filmed "Pie in the Sky." The main room can accommodate around 30 diners, but the tables are too close together. It was pretty full up that... read more

We would not recommend this restaurant. After high expectations we are sorry to say that the food was terrible, the house wine much the same. We did pay, did not leave a tip although we were asked to. Will not be back. Would rather cook at home than visit this restaurant ever again.

We went on a Saturday afternoon to celebrate my husbands birthday. 6 adults 1 child and a baby!!.. The restaurant is small and delightful. The waiters were very attentive but not overly so and very welcoming. The food was superb abd beautifully cooked and very generous portions. I'm not sure I'd like to be there at a really busy time.... More

Extensive menu - well cooked food. House wine perfectly acceptable, and service efficient & entertaining.

We've just come back from an evening meal here. We rang to book a table about 45 minutes beforehand. There wasn't a problem getting a table. When we arrived at 7:30 it wasn't too busy, but a number of people arrived whilst we were there. It appeared that several were regulars. The ground floor restaurant has old wooden floors and... Randomly chose to come here after work with some colleagues. When we drove past it looked pretty busy which is normally a good sign, and I must say it was a bit of a find. We all went for the steak Rossini plus Valpolicela wine, which was well presented and quality. The waiter actually knew about the wine, what to... More

So refreshing these days to go to an Italian restaurant that's not part of a chain. We visited on a Sunday lunchtime and loved the amount of choice available from a Christmas, a non seasonal menu and a la carte. The decor gave the place a cosy feel but it also didn't feel cliched or old-fashioned, probably because it's a... More

We went to Alberto's for the first time, having now lived nearby for the last couple of years. Menu feels a bit dated and service was OK but could be more attentive. Wine was opened and left on table without asking whether we want to taste first. Upstairs has been refurbished and looks the part but downstairs is very dated.... More
